Bad week for Ramaswamy sees him snubbed for Senate seat, booted from DOGE
Our take: Vivek Ramaswamy is an extremely intelligent and successful businessperson. He worked his ass off, went through Harvard undergrad, Yale Law, and founded several hugely successful companies (and a few that failed as well—welcome to business).
That said, he still seems to have a chip on his shoulder from not being socially popular. His business success opened up political doors to him, and he found himself at the same table as presidents, policy leaders, and some of the richest and most influential people in the world. He was poised to make a big difference in our country.
But he could not help himself. Several weeks ago, Ramaswamy launched a diatribe about American society, essentially stating we should value smart kids and shame kids who focus on social or athletic endeavors. His screed went over like a lead balloon, leading to him being pushed out of the circle.
This week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine snubbed Ramaswamy (who is from Cincinnati and still lives in Ohio) by picking Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted to fill the Senate seat vacated by now Vice President J.D. Vance.
On the heels of this decision, Ramswamy was also pushed out of DOGE, with some internal folks stating he was difficult to work with, and that he was not engaged at the same level as many folks, including Elon Musk.
Many think Ramaswamy is looking to run for Ohio governor in 2026, as incumbent Mike DeWine cannot run again, as he will have served for 8 years, the maximum allowed under Ohio law. Whatever he does, he needs to seek some therapy before he pursues another public position. He still seems to be hung up that cheerleaders and quarterbacks did not want to be his friends in high school.
We hope he can figure out how to get past this, as he is an intelligent guy that we think could do a lot of good. If he is still living in the past, he won’t be nearly as effective as he could be.

Biden pardons anyone named Biden on his way out of the Oval Office
Our take: As his final fuck you to the country, Joe Biden handed out pardons like Halloween candy on his final days in office. Those receiving pardons include many January 6th subcommittee members, Dr. Anthony Fauci, his brothers and sisters, and several in-laws.
What crimes did these folks commit to necessitate these pardons? Who knows? Here is Biden’s rationale for the pardons:
"I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics. But baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety, and financial security of targeted individuals and their families. Even when individuals have done nothing wrong and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage their reputations and finances," Biden said.
"The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that they engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense," Biden said.
Un-huh. We have no knowledge of the inner workings of the White House or the Biden family. And we were born at night, but it certainly wasn’t last night. We know what it looks like when someone is covering their tracks to ensure that no bad acts can be traced back to themselves. And this sure looks a lot like an attempt to end any investigations that may lead back to “the big guy.”.
At least now when Biden eats his ice cream and sputters out his nonsense, he will not be tanking our country while he does it. We are so glad this guy no longer has any power.

DeSantis proactively manages extreme weather, declares state of emergency ahead of winter storm
Our take: We included this story for one reason: to contrast what government response looks like when a competent and experienced leader is in charge versus a DEI hire that does not know what they are doing.
DeSantis has run Florida for the last 6 years. He has much experience dealing with extreme weather, mostly hurricanes. He and his team regularly get ahead of these issues, proactively deploying human and physical assets to the areas that will need help.
This one happens to be a winter storm in an area of the country that rarely gets winter weather. By getting ahead of it, DeSantis and his team can limit the danger his citizens face and get them help quickly if and when it becomes necessary.
Contrast this to the failed leadership in California leading up to and through the devastating wildfires that have torn through the area the past few weeks. Every reputable weather service was sounding alarm bells that dangerous fire conditions were coming. Instead of springing into action. LA Mayor Karen Bass hopped on a plane and flew to Ghana for a political photo op, and Governor Gavin Newsom did nothing.
Even before these warnings, California failed to take some basic precautions to keep citizens safe, like doing controlled burns and clearing brush and undergrowth to eliminate fuel for future wildfires. They diverted water from public watersheds to the ocean and left a major reservoir empty because the cover was torn.
When this inevitable fire happened (there was no way to stop it, but it certainly could have been contained or handled infinitely better than it was), they threw their hands up in the air and blamed climate change.
We cannot control the weather. But we certainly can learn from the past and be as prepared as possible to deal with the ramifications from extreme weather events. If you want to know how to do this, we suggest you look to Florida for guidance, not California.
