Carville torches far left progressive ideas as “stunningly stupid”
Our take: James Carville has reached the point in life where he has zero fucks left to give. While he has always been one to speak his mind, any semblance of a filter disappeared long ago. That will be problematic for Democrats if they continue to cling to these broken ideologies that much of the country has rejected.
This week, Carville hammered Democrats on 2 separate issues: their proposal for paid bereavement time for pets (not a joke, read the article), and their performative gender gymnastics when electing their new leadership team (we can’t do it justice, read the article).
Carville may come across as the grumpy old man screaming at the neighborhood kids to get off his lawn, but Democrats would be wise to listen to his advice.
Not for nothing, he was a big reason that Bill Clinton was elected to the White House in 1992 despite his guy being a largely unknown Governor of a small Southern state, who was facing an incumbent president who had just won a very popular war in Iraq, and his candidate being accused of multiple sexual improprieties throughout his campaign.
Anyone with that type of victory on his resume is worth considering. But since he is not LGBTQ or a handicapped immigrant, he probably isn’t the right guy to ask how to win elections. Good news for Republicans yet again.

A deeper look at X's performance after massive downsizing: the same playbook is being run by DOGE
Our take: Elon Musk has been wildly successful in several of his ventures. X, formerly known as Twitter, has not been one of them so far. While Musk made it known his interest in and eventual purchase of the company was driven by his desire to protect free speech, he still shelled out $44 billion for a company currently valued at $13 billion 4 years later.
That said, what interested us in this story is not the drop in valuation, but the turnaround that is still in progress after slashing headcount, cutting operating costs, and stabilizing revenue streams by pushing the company to rely more heavily on paid subscriptions.
This is largely the same model that Musk and Team DOGE are looking to implement in many government agencies. What is most notable to us is the fact there were never massive outages or problems at X despite the headcount being cut by 80%. The site operated properly, users had no significant issues with access or managing their profiles, and the trains ran on time.
Keep all this in mind while you hear many (including many who rely on the government for their paycheck) breathlessly say there will be no one to issue Medicare payments, food stamps, or veterans benefits to people who need them if we cut headcount in the federal government.
We don’t know how many people it would take to actually run the US Government efficiently, but we would take the under against the number of people working for the government right now.
There are always redundancies and fat to cut in any business. No one has looked at tightening things up in decades. We are certain DOGE will find plenty of cost cutting opportunities.

Bondi targets private DEI initiatives looking for “illegal discrimination and preferences.”
Our take: President Trump originally nominated Matt Gaetz as his pick for Attorney General. Gaetz was a controversial pick from the start, and many questioned both his ethics and qualifications for the position, especially Senate Democrats. These questions were legitimate, and Gaetz decided to remove himself from consideration for the position.
That may have turned out to be bad news for Democrats, as Trump pivoted to former Florida AG Pam Bondi to be the next top cop in the country. Bondi is a skilled and tough attorney who ran the state justice system for one of the largest states in the country for 8 years. As Democrats are finding out, she is imminently qualified and knows exactly how to get things done.
After being sworn in days earlier, Bondi sent a memo out to her team to go look for instances of discrimination in both public universities and private business under the guise of DEI initiatives.
In her memo, Bondi directed the Justice Department to “investigate, eliminate, and penalize” private companies and universities that have “illegal” diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
Here is the thing. No one, and we mean no one, should ever face discrimination in the workplace because of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, their religion, or any other immutable characteristic. It is unfair, it is unjust, and it is wrong.
Unfortunately, not everyone sees it this way. There are still some people who hold uneducated beliefs and do in fact discriminate in the hiring and promotion process. That includes minorities discriminating against white men, which has happened in the name of DEI.
The easiest example we can think of to illustrate the point is United Airlines proclaiming in 2022 that they would hire and train at least 5,000 new pilots by 2030, with at least half of those to be women or people of color. Yikes.
If you cannot see how that is discriminatory, change women to men, and people of color whites and read it again. Showing favoritism to one group is wrong, but its reckless when talking about a profession as serious as flying a commercial airliner.
We are glad there is a serious, competent person back in charge of the Justice Department. We expect Bondi to do as well in this role as she did in Florida, and we will all be better off because she does.
