Chicago citizens push back on city stance to shield illegal immigrants

Our take: President Trump was clear that part of his plan if re-elected was to deport illegal immigrants. This plan garnered much support from the electorate, and Trump was handed a strong victory in the election, winning both the popular vote and the electoral college. But some blue state leaders decided they know better.

Among them is Mayor Brandon Johnson in Chicago. Chicago has had a large influx of illegal immigrants sent to the city, largely because the city declared itself a sanctuary city, providing safe harbor for those in the country illegally. Johnson has reiterated that status since the election, which has anger some Chicagoans. One of them went on Fox to voice her displeasure.

P. Rae Easley, host of “Black Excellence Hour” shared the concerns she and many Chicago residents share. "We understand that we are in the middle of an invasion," Easley said. "Every single person who came across that border came with an invoice on their back for the Chicago taxpayer."

Chicago had to plug an almost $1 billion budget gap to pass their new budget. The city has spent hundreds of millions of dollars providing food, clothing, shelter, and other services to non-tax payers due to their sanctuary city policy. Some people have a hard time learning lessons that others pick up on quickly.

The majority of US Citizens want the border closed and immigration laws enforced. Politicians who don’t listen to this ground swell from the people do so at their own political peril.

Gen Z dubbed “hardest generation to manage” in survey

Our take: In a survey of 625 hiring managers asking which generation was the most difficult to work with, Gen Z came out on top. 45% of managers identified their generation, including 50% of Gen Z managers identifying their own cohort as the most difficult. The survey did not identify the reasons behind the managers choices. We included a link to the article below. It is a short read but we found it interesting.

Amendment to eliminate presidential term limits introduced in House

Our take: This story is sure to make those with Trump Derangement Syndrome apoplectic. Tennessee Republican Andy Ogles introduced a bill to change the 22nd amendment, which was ratified in 1951 after FDR was elected to 4 terms in the Presidency.

We are not fans of this approach. We think it is good to have new leadership in the government, including at the executive level. Founding Father and first President George Washington set the precedent when he declined to run for a 3rd term in office, which he would have likely won handily.

After fighting for freedom from a monarchy, Washington (correctly in our eyes) wanted to avoid any one person becoming the leader or ruler of the new country. The same concept still holds true today.

We are supporters of most of what Trump is trying to do in his second term. He should let JD Vance ride shotgun on everything and pass the mantle to Vance when Trump’s second term is up. Trump will be in his eighties if he serves the full 4 years. Regardless of the person, the presidency is not a job for an octogenarian.

Even if age was not an issue, it is good for the country to have new blood and new ideas.
