DOGE team claims optional code not filled out makes over $4.5 trillion in payments “nearly untraceable”
DOGE Our take: The DOGE team has been busy since President Trump was sworn in. They have taken full advantage of the sweeping mandate the president gave them.
The first big news came when they dug into the murky spending going on at the organization called USAID, and slush fund set up under the Kennedy administration to fight the spread of communism. This may have been a necessary program in the beginning of the cold war. But DOGE has exposed much spending that seems questionable to most Americans, pushing woke initiatives in other countries and even finding funds meant to combat child hunger winding up in the hands of a Syrian terrorist.
Fast forward a few weeks, and they keep finding more questionable activity. In their review of payments made by the US Treasury, they identified an “optional” code that was available to be completed on each payment made by the department. The code was used to track and classify payments, so the department (and the American people) can understand where money is going. Unfortunately, because the code was optional, it was skipped on a few payments. Those payments total $4,7 trillion and counting.
Yikes! Talk about a lack of accountability. These payments may all have been completely legitimate. They may have all been fraudulent. The point here is we should be able to track where the money went. The code has been made mandatory from this point forward.
The Treasury Department “thanked” DOGE for uncovering the code. Seems legit…

Our take: A man convicted of murdering 2 FBI agents in 1975 is set to be release from prison after his sentence was commuted by former President Biden as one of his last acts before leaving office.
Leonard Peltier does not dispute that he was present at the scene of the crime, or that he fired a gun while present. But he has consistently denied he fired the shots that killed the agents. The release has sparked relief from those that supported Peltier and outrage from those who believe his conviction.
“He represents every person who’s been roughed up by a cop, profiled, had their children harassed at school,” said Nick Estes, a professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota and a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe who has advocated for Peltier’s release.
ut the last-minute move as Biden was leaving office also prompted criticism from those who say Peltier is guilty, including former FBI Director Christopher Wray, who called him “a remorseless killer” in a private letter to Biden that was obtained by The Associated Press.
“Granting Peltier any relief from his conviction or sentence is wholly unjustified and would be an affront to the rule of law,” Wray wrote.
We don’t know what to make of this, but we do not support releasing prisoners who kill law enforcement officers. Only those actually present at the crime know what really happened, and unfortunately the 2 agents died before they could tell their story.

Our take: We are not sure whether to file this under Darwinism or fuck around and find out. Either way, this woman learned a lesson the hard way.
While snorkeling during a vacation in Turks and Caicos, a woman encountered a shark. Rather than distancing herself from the shark like a rational person, she decided to try to get a photo of herself and the shark. The shark, acting like a shark, promptly attacked her.
The woman’s husband along with other onlookers jumped in to try and provide help. Unfortunately for her, they could not prevent the damage being done. She was taken from the scene to get medical attention, where both her hands wound up needing to be amputated.
Remember this - humans are the top of the food chain in the grocery store. When we are in the water, the woods, or out in nature, we are just a meal walking around. Use some common sense and avoid the fate this woman suffered.

TIP OF THE DAY
Every three months, perform an “audit” of your habits. Pick one habit you want to stop or change, and one habit you want to start or improve on. If you do this every three months, in 10 years, you will have dropped 40 “bad” habits and built 40 “good” habits. The compound interest of these habits will have a huge positive impact on your life.
