Early 2028 presidential polls show Harris as top candidate

Our take: One thing almost all voters can agree on is we are so glad the election is over so we did not have to listen to any more prognosticators run their mouths on what was going to happen. Trump won handily; Democrats have work to do to win back many voters, specifically independents, men, and Black & Latino voters, all of whom they lost ground on.

If you work in politics, the cycle for presidential elections is never-ending. As such, those in the business are already looking forward to 2028. The initial poll numbers are truly shocking to anyone who has common sense and can remember the last 6 months.

Leading the way is none other than our previous Vice President Kamala Harris at around 35%. No, that’s not a typo. Despite the horrible campaign she ran, spending over half a billion dollars on things like celebrity endorsements, private jets for staffers, and building the set of a podcast in Washington DC so Harris could chat with a podcaster whose show normally deals with topics like blowjobs and vibrators, she is the too-early front-runner. Un-fucking-believable.

Other top candidates in the early polls were Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, and AOC. The election is almost 4 years away, and so much can happen between now and then that it is silly to draw too many conclusions from these results. BUT—if Democrats think these candidates are the path to win back voters who defected to Trump and are supporting his blitzkrieg approach to tackling waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, like Judas Priest once sang—you’ve got another thing comin’!

The 4 main reasons companies do not like remote work

Our take:

We have included and commented on several articles about the tug of war between associates and managers regarding flexible work schedules, more specifically the ability to work from home. As the ridiculousness of the pandemic fades into history, the willingness of companies to offer a work-from-home option continues to shrink. An article from Fortune lists the 4 main issues companies have with the arrangement.

All the issues are related to productivity and growth. The article calls out remote work being bad for new hires and junior employees, issues that remote work causes for the workers themselves, remote workers put in less hours per day (3.5 less hours to be exact), and the fact that productivity plummets on days when all associates are working remotely.

The biggest challenge here is that it is difficult to measure any of these statements definitively one way or another. One side says I’m more productive, the other side says bullshit, and it’s difficult to provide data to validate either claim.

We are certain that the management side will win this argument to the extent they find enough people to fill these jobs because they need to pay their mortgage, buy groceries, or send their kids to private school. But management rarely learns that disenfranchised, grudging employees are less productive and less loyal than happy ones are. This feels like a situation where we are doomed to repeat history because we refuse to learn from it.

Most people want some flexibility to be able to see a doctor, go to their kids games or dance recitals, or have some flexibility to cut out early for a long weekend without being made to feel like they are cheating the system or not dedicated to their work. If a manager cannot figure this out, you have the wrong person in the role.

MSNBC anchor rewrites history to criticize Vance calling out European leaders on censorship

Our take:

MSNBC anchor Margaret Brennan rewrote history in her interview with Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday.

Vice-President JD Vance put Europe on notice last week when he called them out for censoring their citizens. Many were outraged Vance made the statements, but we have not heard anyone claim his statements were wrong.

During her interview with Rubio, Brennan claimed Germany was able to conduct the horrors of the Holocaust because they allowed “free speech to be weaponized.”. What the fuck?

We are not history experts, but we do know if you voiced dissent in Nazi Germany, you were not around for long. To make a statement that is this counter to the reality of what happened is yet another example of the Trump Derangement Syndrome that continues to grip many in the country, especially the mainstream media.

TIP OF THE DAY

There are 2 kinds of people you are related to: relatives and family. Relatives are people you share a bloodline with but are not involved much in your life. There is nothing wrong with that, but you should recognize it and treat them accordingly. Then you have family. These are the people you are close with, that root for you succeed and help pick you up when you fall down. These are the people you want to prioritize.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“If we lose freedom of speech, its never coming back.”
