Musk polls X users about ending daylight savings time

Our take:

Billionaire Elon Musk polled users of his social media platform X about how they want to approach ending daylight saving time (DST).

Musk asked in a post Wednesday, "If daylight savings [sic] time is canceled, do you prefer" an hour earlier or an hour later?

About 58% of respondents said an hour later, while nearly 42% said an hour earlier, with more than 1.2 million users having voted as of Thursday morning. That implies respondents would prefer permanent DST to remaining on standard time year-round.

From our perspective, it is imperative that we terminate daylight savings time promptly. It never made sense to us anyway. No studies have shown any real benefit to the practice. The one part we absolutely LOVE is turning our clocks back in the fall and sleeping an extra hour. It’s one of our favorite times of the year.

Stephen A Smith inks $100 million deal to stay at ESPN

Our take:

Stephen A. Smith will continue to be ESPN's staple—and make a lot of money while doing so.

The longtime reporter and analyst has agreed to a five-year extension worth at least $100 million, according to The Athletic.

Smith has been a longtime host of "First Take," which will continue to be his primary duty with the network, the report said.

The report also stated that he will make fewer other appearances, which will give him more rein on his own podcast. There, he further dives into other topics, including plenty of politics.

Smith has been a regular on NBA programming with the network, but The Athletic says that will no longer be the case.

The 57-year-old has also hinted at a political run. In an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, the sports journalist initially claimed that he "doesn't want" the position, but he then made a comment that seemed to strongly hint at the possibility of a presidential run.

It’s a crazy world where this guy has earned a $100 million payout yelling stuff at people. It’s a good gig if you can land it.

Dem Congresswomen post widely panned TikTok acting like avatars for a fighting video game

Our take:

Democrats on social media were mocked by conservatives on Thursday over a viral video in which several of the elected officials pretended to be video game characters in a "choose your fighter parody."

The video, posted by social media influencer Jessica Woo, featured Dem. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Lauren Underwood, Katherine Clark, Judy Chu, and Susie Lee.

The congresswomen in the video could be seen jumping up and down in a fighting position as if they were video game characters, along with attributes describing their accolades and attributes.

"Democrats Not Be Cringe Challenge," the White House rapid response social media account posted on X. "Level: Impossible."

"It’s as if the party is trying to implode itself…," Fox News contributor Joe Concha posted on X.

"There are just some people who don’t have anyone in their lives willing to tell them to stop," conservative commentator Ryan James Girdusky posted on X.

"Dear God," American Majority CEO Ned Ryun posted on X. "As if they couldn’t get any lamer... Hold my beer and watch me release a stupid loser video and prove I’m even lamer than you thought!!"

"Trump Deranged Democrats release ‘choose your fighter skit’ after refusing to stand and clap for a child with cancer during President Trump’s address to Congress," GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posted on X. "Democrats have sunk so low that I’m actually starting to feel sorry for them. Pitiful."

Yikes. I wonder if they have ever thought about just being themselves and not pandering to a segment of the population. People will accept you if you’re real, and they will reject you if you are phony. Democrats have been getting a lot of rejection lately.
