Trump nominee Hegseth faces questions over past accusations
Our take: Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, will face questions over an allegation of sexual assault in his past. As well he should. No one should be appointed into a position where voters do not have a say without proper vetting. It is the whole reason the Founding Fathers made the Senate responsible for confirming appointees to Government positions, and judges to the federal bench. No one should hav autonomy to put people in these position without some type of guardrails.
All that said, in our country, people are innocent until proven guilty. This article states Hegseth settled the matter directly with the party in question, and both have gone on with their lives. A settlement in no way equates to a conviction or admission of guilt. Senators should investigate the issue fully and give Hegseth a chance to present his side of the story. The pantia of guilt any time an accusation is made needs to stop. We have plenty of examples of dubious and downright fabricated claims made by people for attention, fame, or money. We don’t know what the situation is here, but it should play out fully before anyone declares anything.

Twenty something laments having to work to pay for her life
Our take: Oof. This is not a good look, probably because it is not a good approach. The article consists of a young lady complaining that work is hard and she does not want to have to do it. At 28 years old. We are not saying people should be conscripted to the salt mines as indentured servants, but when you are young, the way to make your way in the world is to get a job (or multiplt jobs) and bust your ass. No, it’s not easy. It is not easy for anyone when they first start out. That said, when you are this young, you almost always have your health, and along with it, large amounts of energy and resiliency. It sounds to us like one of two solutions is in order here. This young lady either needs to find a therapist to learn some coping skills, or her parents need to stop enabling her (and her boyfriend, who also lives with them rent free) and shove her out in the real world and let her take her lumps. Tough love is still love. Sometimes people need it.

Trump voters explain why they voted for him and what they expect him to deliver
Our take: There have been hundreds of articles written since Trump won the election over a week ago. We have seen very little coverage of the people that helped vote him into office. Why did they vote for him and what do they expect from his presidency. While the sample size in this article is small, it does come from a diverse group of people from different areas of the country. The overarching themes are improve the economy, control the border, remove illegal immigrants from the country (particularly the ones who have committed violent crimes in the past or have done so in our country), and reduce taxes so people keep more of their own money. We are all about these priorities, and are hopeful that the Republicans will not squander the opportunity they have been given by the voters. The need to avoid infighting, serve the voters and not special interests/deep pocketed donors, and get things done quickly. If that happens, it could be the start of a great period for our country, despite the doomsday scenarios the Democrats ran and lost the election on.

TIP OF THE DAY
One of the main causes of anxiety is uncertainty. The cure for uncertainty is action. When you take action, you get outcomes. You may like the outcome or not like the outcome, but it will help calm your anxiety, give you valuable information you can use to make future decisions, and eventually build confidence that you can handle what ever challenges come your way.
