A couple was murdered in Arkansas State Park while hiking with their daughters

Our take: Police in Arkansas are searching for a murder suspect who killed a couple out hiking with their 2 young daughters. Clinton and Amanda Brink had recently moved to Arkansas with their 9- and 7-year-old daughters. The family was out for a hike at Devil’s Den State Park when they were attacked by a yet-to-be-named assailant. The children were unharmed.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, medium build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark baseball cap, and sunglasses. He also was carrying a black backpack and fingerless gloves. He was seen driving towards a park exit in a black, 4-door sedan and may have obscured his license plate with tape. Police are asking anyone with possible information to contact the Arkansas State Police.

Deion Sanders says he had a cancerous tumor removed from his bladder, is now cancer-free

Our take:  Deion Sanders, the head football coach at Colorado University, has been absent from several team events over the past few months without explanation. At a press conference Monday, Sanders revealed he had been receiving treatment for a cancerous tumor in his bladder, which has been surgically removed. He also stated he had not told his 2 sons, both of whom signed with NFL teams after this year’s NFL Draft, so they could focus on getting signed on to start their professional careers.

Sanders, a former 2-sport star and NFL Hall of Famer, has also enjoyed success as a college coach, leading Jackson State to 11 wins in 2021 and 12 wins in 2022, then moving to the head job at Colorado in 2023, taking his son Shedeur as quarterback all 4 years.

Shedeur was recently drafted in the 5th round by the Cleveland Browns after falling down the draft board from what many expected to be a first-round pick. At the emotional press conference, Sanders announced that he is cancer-free following his treatment. Here is wishing all the best to Sanders and his family.

Florida judge suspended, fined, reprimanded for audacious ethics violations

Our take: Americans count on the institutions of law and order to be fair and impartial to help make the country run effectively. The problem is these systems are made up of and run by people, and we all know people are imperfect. That is why serious transgressions by those in positions of power are so upsetting to people. These transgressions erode trust in our institutions. It is imperative that those that commit them be held accountable.

A Florida judge in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit was investigated for and admitted to several such transgressions. Judge Stephanie C. Moon received a 10-day suspension without pay, a $2,115 fine, and a public reprimand for inappropriate campaign activity, prohibited ex parte communication, and unlawful political contributions.

The judge was a naughty girl. In one instance, she asked an attorney arguing a case before her why the attorney had not returned her call about serving on the judge’s re-election committee. No pressure, but if you want to win your case, you better call. She also admitted to contacting the therapist of a party in a case she was hearing without the knowledge of any of the parties or their attorneys. What the fuck? She also contributed over $2,000 in political donations over a 4-year period, a big no-no for judges. Her donations were to Democrat causes, but it makes no difference to us. No judge should be contributing to political causes of any kind. It’s one of the sacrifices you make when you take on the job.

It is concerning this judge demonstrated such poor judgement and wanton disregard for the rules and ethics of the court, especially because she knew better. Hopefully Florida puts her on traffic tickets and jaywalking cases until we know she can be trusted to do the job correctly.

Tip of the day – building resilience and grit

Live a life that revolves around your interests. If you have a job you hate, it’s hard to have a lot of grit and resilience. It’s much easier to have perseverance while doing something you love. Find a career and hobbies that you love. The need for grit will be much lower.

Quote of the Day

“Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.” – Sigmund Freud
