Bernie Sanders praises Musk, and Ramaswamy for vowing to find and eradicate waste in defense department spending.
Our take: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been tapped by President-Elect Trump to lead a commission called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with finding and eliminating waste in federal spending.
While many departments may feel like good places to cut simply because we don’t like them (IRS, postal service, and education come to mind), defense is by far the largest discretionary spending category in the budget at a whopping $800 million annually.
Not only is it the largest, but much of the budget is spent with 3rd party companies outside the government, not directly on government employees or government assets. In addition to this setup, which is primed for nepotism and mismanagement, the defense department openly admits it can only account for roughly half of the $4.1 trillion in assets it shows on its balance sheet. But what’s $2 trillion between friends—am I right?
Anytime you have people from such diverse ideologies and Sanders, Musk, and Ramaswamy agreeing something is rotten, it’s time to shine as much sunlight on the issue as possible. We cannot wait for the group to dig in and fix some of this ridiculous bloat President Eisenhower warned us about about 70 years ago.

Megan Rapinoe looks to stay relevant by telling you not to believe your lyin’ eyes when BBC names man “Woman’s Footballer of the Year”
Our take: Megan Rapinoe is deservedly a legend in the soccer world. She was a phenomenal player and helped lead the USWNT to two World Cup victories and an Olympic Gold Medal. She has lost the plot when it comes to allowing men to compete in women’s sports.
Barbra Banda is a man from Zambia who claims to be a woman and has been allowed to compete on women’s teams, including the Orlando Pride of the NWSL. In a league filled with outstanding women’s soccer players, the BBC, for some reason, has chosen her as their “Woman’s Footballer of the Year.” Enter Rapinoe, defending the award and accusing anyone who disagrees as being "transphobic.”.
When asked in 2023 if she would support a trans woman playing on the USWNT, Rapinoe responded: “Absolutely, you’re taking a “real” woman’s place; that’s the part of the argument that’s extremely transphobic. I see trans women as real women. What you’re saying automatically in the argument—you're sort of telling on yourself already—is you don’t believe these people are women.”
Exactly. Thanks for making the case for us, Megan. We have a word for women. It’s women. Not transwomen, not identifying as a woman, not people who menstruate, not birthing people. Women. If you need anything other than that word to identify the person, they are not a woman.
There are plenty of outlets for men to participate in athletics. They can compete in men’s leagues with other men. No need to take spots away from women because you’re “confused” about who you are.
You have every right to live your life anyway you want, right up until you start infringing on other people’s rights. Then it's time for you to step aside and deal with your own issues without impacting other people’s opportunities.

TIP OF THE DAY
The cure for anxiety is action. Don’t sit around and worry about things. Take action, and you will erase most of the anxiety you are feeling. It is rare that action does not help cure anxiety.
