Woman accused of attempting to sell property she doesn’t own

Our take:  There are many ways people steal money. Some old-fashioned ways are pickpocketing, stealing and selling possessions, or just stealing money straight up. There is a real estate scam that we have seen on the rise that we want to bring your attention to.

Some people will forge documents to try and sell property they do not own. This seems like a far-fetched thing, but unfortunately it is all too real. This couple in Houston posed as the owners of at least 35 properties they did not own in attempts to bilk unsuspecting buyers out of their funds.

The best way to protect yourself from scams like this is to always use a reputable title company. The title company not only researches the title to the property, but they also provide title insurance to protect your investment in the property if there were any problems with the title anywhere in the chain before you bought the property that were not discovered.

Girl goes overboard on Disney cruise; dad jumps in and saves her

Our take: This story is real, although it seems like something out of a movie, which makes it appropriate that it happened on a Disney cruise. A girl went overboard from deck 4 and into the Caribbean. Her father jumped in after her. The father saved the girl, and the ship’s crew quickly saved them both. A scary situation, but a happy ending. Unlike the Snow White remake which was a total nightmare.

U Penn to strip Lia Thomas of all titles for competing against women

Our take: In an about-face after years of denying reality and gaslighting the country, the University of Pennsylvania has agreed to strip all swimming titles awarded to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who was a male competing against females at the highest level of NCAA swimming.

The university signed an agreement with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights that not only included this condition but also included a stipulation that the university agreed to issue a formal apology to every female (the article says “biological female,” but that is redundant as there is only one kind of female) competitor who lost to a transgender competitor, as well as adopting “biology-based definitions for “male” and “female” under Title IX. For those not getting it, “biology-based” is a euphemism for science. I know many liked to say “trust the science” and “follow the science” when they were ratting on their neighbors for having 6 people at their house during the illegal lockdowns of Covid. Those same people are curiously silent now.

We applaud the Trump administration for sticking up for and protecting women’s rights. We are all for transgender people being respected for their choices and treated with the same respect and decency we would want our family members to be treated with. That does not give men the right to compete against women in sports after people have gone through puberty. It is not only unfair, but in many physical sports like basketball, volleyball, boxing, and martial arts, it creates significant safety risks for women.

Tip of the Day - handling difficult conversations

If, towards the end of the conversation, you still do not see eye to eye, you can always acknowledge you’re unlikely to reach an agreement.

We live in an “either/or” and “this or that” society that often offers no room for gray.

Life is complex, and no two people are the same. The goal is to meet in the middle.
