Some mistakes you keep paying for. DNC still paying debts for Harris’s failed White House run

Our take: Former VP Kamala Harris spent over $1.5 billion in her failed run for the presidency. Unfortunately for the DNC, not only did she lose the race, but she spent all of the $1.5 billion raised to support the run and then some. The DNC has been stuck paying down the remaining debt with funds raised post-election.

This will have some effect on their ability to support future races. Kamala Harris – the gift that keeps on giving.

The woman was upset her father was detained by ICE for being in the country illegally

Our take: A woman captured the detention of her father by ICE and is upset because ICE would not show her a warrant, would not say where they were taking her father, and would not explain why he was being detained. Further along in the story, the woman stated her father was in the country illegally but was a hard worker, a dedicated father, and was loved.

We have little doubt these statements are true. The same could be said of me. Does that mean I can go anywhere I want in this world without following the immigration laws of the country I go to? Should I be able to just decide to live somewhere else and not have any accountability to the government of that country? Can I just tell authorities I’m a hard worker and I’m loved so the laws don’t apply to me? It sounds ridiculous when I lay it out like that.

I write this as I am currently in Mexico, where I am a guest. When I got off the plane, I had to show my passport, answer questions about my visit, and consent to follow the laws of Mexico while I am here. Should I choose to not follow those laws, I fully understand I could be detained and deported. Welcome to life. You don’t get to do whatever you want without consequences.

Legal immigration is awesome and welcomed by almost everyone. Illegal immigration is putting a tremendous burden on many areas of the United States. Immigration laws exist for a reason. The fix here is for Congress to stop protesting ICE doing their job and change immigration laws so we can get control of who is coming into and living in our country. They act like someone else is responsible for this mess, when responsibility lies directly at their feet.

A high school history teacher says people can use guns to defend themselves against ICE

Our take: Seriously – what’s up with all these teachers going off the rails? We saw a bunch of them publicly celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk. They are attacking ICE agents. They are shaming students who have different political beliefs than them. I don’t get it. They get all summer off – you would think they would be more adjusted to deal with the world.

Tip of the day for making friends

Smile

I’m not saying you should have a fake smile, but a smile puts you in a friendly mood, versus frowning at someone. Don’t smile all the time, or at inappropriate times. Just generally have a smiling disposition, as it signals that you like the person (also try to genuinely like the person, moving away from tendencies to judge them or complain about them).
