Firefighters face criminal charges for flooding the outfield because they were tired of home run balls flying into their parking lot

Our take: Talk about losing the plot. 2 firefighters in Maryland are facing criminal charges after they deliberately flooded the outfield of a baseball field adjacent to their fire station because they did not like home run balls landing in their parking lot. The flooding caused over $1,000 in damage to the field, and 2 home games had to be cancelled before the fields could be repaired.

Maybe they train firefighters differently in Maryland. Everywhere I have lived firefighters are selfless heroes, running into burning buildings to save people, retrieving cats from trees, and acting as masturbatory fantasies for frustrated middle-aged women everywhere.

These guys literally rained on the parade. On purpose. Jail time seems a bit much. Maybe they should have to do something like shag batting practice for the team for a week to help them change their attitudes.

Man replaces mother-in-law’s roof, she stiffs him on the $20k bill

Our take:  File this one under never do business with family. A man who owns a contracting business helped his mother-in-law out by replacing her roof after it was damaged in a storm. He didn’t write up a contract for the job, thinking there was no way he would have trouble getting paid.

The mother-in-law received the payment from the insurance company and decided to keep it for herself. His own mother-in-law stiffed him on a twenty-thousand-dollar bill. It should be a fun Christmas for this family, huh?

Woman balks at moving in with her boyfriend when he says his mom has to live with them too

Our take:  A woman who had been dating her boyfriend for 3 years started talking with him about moving in together. Things were going on swimmingly until the boyfriend mentioned that he was going to have his 55-year-old mother live with them as well.

The woman said she did not want to live with his mother. The boyfriend accused her of making him choose between his girlfriend and his mother. The woman is 28 and her boyfriend is 30. This woman should run as far away from her boyfriend as fast as she can and start over. Consider yourself lucky you dodged this bullet.

Tip of the day for finding purpose in your life

Use nostalgia to reflect on your life.
Engaging in nostalgia can help us see parts of ourselves that have remained steadfast, despite the passage of time. By reflecting on past experiences and how we dealt with them, we can boost our sense of continuity and authenticity.

To stimulate nostalgia, you can look through old photos, listen to favorite songs from the past, or go through old keepsakes and recall what was happening at that time of your life, says psychologist Steven Heine. Or you can contact an old friend and reminisce about the past. It can be especially powerful to recall times when you were socially connected with others, he adds, since relationships are so meaningful.

“By making your past memories more accessible, you will be better able to connect the path of your current life with the events that occurred along the way, writes Heine. “You will be reminded about how the events of your path have shaped who you are today.”

Research has found that reflecting on our lives through nostalgia can help us increase our sense of meaningfeel more socially connectedhave a greater sense of authenticity, and be motivated to pursue important goals, among other benefits.
