Kid Rock's Nashville restaurant forced to close as ICE raids spook illegal workers

Our take: Kid Rock has long been a public and wild supporter of President Donald Trump. During an appearance on Bill Maher’s HBO show “Real Time,” the musician said, “I don’t like Donald Trump; I fucking love Donald Trump.”

Despite his support, the musician had to close his popular Nashville restaurant, the “Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N Roll Steakhouse,” this week after much of the staff stopped showing up at work for fear of ICE raids in the city. Ahead of the raids, managers instructed employees without legal status to vacate the premises during the Saturday night rush. With the number of people that vacated, the restaurant had no one left to cook food.

While this story is factually accurate, the premise behind it is hollow. The story is meant to call out some form of hypocrisy on the part of Kid Rock. It implies that his support of Donald Trump is misplaced and came back to bite him in the ass. If Kid Rock were publicly complaining about the issues caused by the ICE raids, then there would be a gotcha story here. Short of that, this is just another business that is impacted by the actions this administration was elected to take on; close the border and deport those in the country illegally.

Biden was found to “mumble incoherently” during his presidency

Our take: Mainstream media was complicit in allowing Joe Biden and his administration to lie to the American public for years, claiming Biden had “never been sharper” or was “the best version ever of himself” or “younger staffers cannot keep up with him” despite the obvious cognitive issues that all of America saw.

In his new book, Jake Tapper covers some of the issues he refused to dig into now, including that Biden was often found to mumble incoherently in meetings with people.

While this is fun to talk about, it is hardly news. There is much video of Biden mumbling incoherently at multiple public speeches and events. It does seem beyond the pale that Tapper is positioning this book as some sort of revelation and breaking news. It’s stuff Tapper should have been pushing hard on or investigating in his job as a supposed journalist on CNN. Instead, he was a Biden sycophant, actively pushing back on those who raised the question or called it out publicly.

Walmart warns it will be raising prices

Our take: Despite reporting solid quarterly results, Walmart stated they expected to raise prices soon, claiming they “could not afford to absorb higher costs given the narrow retail margins.”

OK. We understand the sentiment here, as we run grocery stores and know firsthand how hard it is to make money in retail grocery. That said, Walmart reported first-quarter U.S. sales up 3.2% to 112.2 billion, including 21% year-over-year growth in online sales. It also reported over $4 billion in net income. It’s hard to feel sorry for Walmart and its investors when these numbers are in the public domain. It sure seems like they have some room to absorb price increases without passing them on to their customers.
