Entitled woman complains about charitable holiday gift for her kid

Our take:  Around the holidays, people tend to become more generous and empathetic. One of the things they do to express their goodwill is to buy presents for those in need who cannot afford them, especially for kids. There are services that allow people to sign up their kids so they get to experience the joy of Christmas.

A woman who signed up for one such service had the audacity to complain about the gifts someone bought for her daughter. A donor bought a baby swing and a bouncer, both of which she complained about. She said the store-brand bouncer was “cheap,” and she never asked for a baby swing.

This is a perfect microcosm of many of the challenges in society today. First, this woman was ungrateful for the act of kindness someone showed her kid. Second, she took to the internet to complain about her issues. Third, multiple people decided they had to chime in and chastise her for her ungratefulness.

It’s a great time of year to be grateful for all we have, be empathetic to others, and focus on the good in the world. It’s not more complicated than that.

Illegal Somali immigrant with multiple fraud convictions may have ties to high-ranking Minnesota politicians

Our take: According to Fox News, Somali migrant Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, who entered the US in 1995 after being deported from Canada over welfare and asylum fraud, has had a deportation order against him in the US since 2004. He has had a deportation order against him since 2004. The order was supported by an appeals court in 2006, but he was later granted Temporary Protected Status.

Photographs of Mr. Ibrahim with prominent Minnesota politicians have surfaced, including Governor Tim Walz and Representative Ilhan Omar. Other photos of Mr. Ibrahim and failed mayoral candidate Omar Fateh and City Council member Jamal Osman have surfaced. Both Fateh and Osman wrote letters of recommendation for Mr. Inbrahim at his failed immigration proceedings.

One more thing to consider. The MEALS ACT, which is the law that funded the program that allowed dozens of people to steal over $300 million from the Minnesota “charity” Feeding Our Future, was written and introduced to Congress by none other than Representative Ilhan Omar.

You may believe in coincidences, but we sure don’t. All this fraud in Minnesota tied to the Somali community stinks to high heaven, and it sure looks like Governor Walz at best turned a knowing blind eye to the fraud, if not much worse. The federal government needs to dig in and run this thing to the ground to make sure anyone who knew about it or should have stopped it is held to account.

Clearly no one is guilty simply because they are Somali. But the country of Somalia has been ranked at or near the top of the world’s most corrupt nations for decades. Bribery, embezzlement of aid and public funds, election fraud, and patronage networks are rampant and commonplace in Somalia. These problems divert resources, discourage investment, and undermine governance in critical sectors like security, finance, and aid delivery. To expect people who grew up in, and many times participated in, a culture such as this to simply fly right because they moved somewhere else is beyond naïve. If you come from Somalia and don’t want to assimilate to American culture and systems, I’m going to assume you are crooked and not trust anything you say until you prove differently to me.

Woman caught stuffing Xanax in her cooch during traffic stop

Our take: During a traffic stop, police noticed several yellow pills fall from a woman’s sock after she had been arrested for a DUI. This led them to perform a more comprehensive exam of the woman, where they discovered she had attempted to hide Xanax wrapped in plastic in her cooch. This all took place in – you guessed it – Florida. One thing is for sure – they know how to party in Florida.

Tip of the day for thinking critically

Try not to get your news from social media. And if you do see something on social media that grabs your interest, check the accuracy of the story (via reputable sources of information, as above) before you share it.
