BBC boss resigns after network is called out for deceptive editing of Trump statements on January 6th
Our take: The BBC positions itself as a serious news network. Unfortunately, they seem to have caught the wokeness bug, and their current leader has stepped down because of it.
The network has faced increasing criticism that it has not maintained neutrality in covering subjects such as the Israel-Hamas conflict, transgender issues, and Donald Trump. They published a clip of Trump making statements on January 6th, 2001, to followers that appeared to show Trump encouraging them to riot. The clip contained several clips of his speech to supporters that were made several minutes apart but edited to make it look like one continuous statement.
News networks want to be respected and taken seriously as news sources. When they lie and create propaganda to fit narratives that they support versus reporting the facts, they continue to lose the trust of the public.
This has been going on for decades. The pace at which the public distrusts legacy media outlets has accelerated in recent years as people have access to raw footage/information to fact-check them and platforms like Substack, YouTube, and Hinge that they can reach millions of others on.
News organizations would do well to study what happened to the music industry in the 1990s when they fought the inevitable move to digital music. If they don’t make an adjustment soon, news organizations will go the way of Tower Records.

Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue dies at 84
Our take: Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue died on Sunday at age 84. Tagliabue ran the NFL for 17 years and oversaw a tremendous growth in both profits and popularity for the league. Tagliabue is also responsible for one of the most logical and useful quotes we have ever heard – “All’s well that ends.”
The mentality of not holding grudges but developing solutions that work for all parties and moving forward are words we heard long ago and have used as a guiding principle in our professional and personal lives. Tagliabue was a levelheaded leader who made a huge impact on the sport and American society by being humble and working with others to move things in a positive direction. His approach is one we can all learn from.

November SNAP payments are in limbo as Supreme Court Justice Jackson paused a lower court order saying the Trump Administration must use contingency funds to make November SNAP payments
Our take: Over 40 million Americans receive SNAP benefits, more commonly known as food stamps. Since Congress could not pass a new budget in September and decided to use SNAP benefits as a bargaining chip, those who receive SNAP have been whipsawed back and forth by legal battles and political rhetoric.
Democrats claim Republicans don’t care about starving kids because they won’t fund the SNAP benefits. Republicans claim Democrats don’t care about starving kids because they won’t vote to pass a new budget.
In a court ruling on Thursday last week, a Rhode Island federal judge ordered the full funding of November SNAP benefits. Justice Jackson paused the court order late on Friday night. As of now, no one knows who is getting benefits, how much they are getting, or when a final resolution will be reached on this issue. Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away.
One thing we are sure of is that all politicians will regret this fight. Anyone who has multiple children knows how this plays out. When siblings consistently fight with each other, at some point the parents lose interest in determining who is to blame. They simply punish both of them for being idiots. That is exactly what will happen to the people overseeing this circus. Voters are tired of this crap from all involved. It may be time to just clean house and start over with a group of people not beholden to corporate interests who want to do the right thing for everyday Americans.

Tip of the day for learning not to care what other people think about you
When someone disapproves of you, it’s easy to spiral into the belief that they don’t like you at all, that they’ll never like you again, or that they want nothing to do with you. But this is often a distorted interpretation. Most of the time, people are frustrated with a specific behavior or situation, not with you as a person.
Take a moment to truly listen. What are they really saying? Maybe they're frustrated with a specific action you took, or they wanted something from you that you couldn’t provide. Understanding their perspective will help you navigate the situation with more clarity and less fear.
