Leaked UnitedHealth Care documents show company plan to cut costs by intentionally reducing options for autistic children’s treatments.

Our take: In a piece of solid investigative journalism, Pro Publica broke a story showing leaked internal documents outlining their strategy to control costs by limiting health care to autistic kids by preventing new providers from joining their network and ending treatment because the child was not making progress fast enough.

The article cites multiple health care providers who contradict the statements and conclusions put forth in the memo. They stated the programs denied by UHC were critical for the improvement and mental health of the children in the programs. The article cites multiple examples of parents and doctors who were given excuses and diagnoses from unqualified employees at UHC who were following directives from company leadership as evidenced by the internal documents.

Despite multiple attempts by Pro Publica to get a response from UnitedHealth Care, United hid behind the recent shooting death of their CEO, stating “we are in mourning” and could not engage with a “non-urgent story during this incredibly difficult moment in time.” Offered an additional day or two, the company would not agree to a deadline for comment.

A few people who did make comments: Satan, who stated, "Whoa... we can’t really do this to kids with autism to make money, can we? "Several serial killers proclaimed, “This seems like it’s really beyond the pale.” And finally, Hitler from beyond the grave said, “What is wrong with you? Kids with autism? Really?”

This article shows one example of our truly broken health care system, where faceless people who are unqualified to make medical decisions follow orders from robotic leaders who care about nothing other than “creating shareholder value” in the name of profits and bonuses. It is a perfect microcosm of why we need to make drastic changes to our healthcare system as soon as possible.

Lying ex-FBI informant pleads guilty for Biden lies

Our take: Alexander Smirnov agreed to a plea deal for fabricating a story that Burisma executives paid Hunter and Joe Biden $5 million each to help them with “all sorts of problems.” Smirnov also fabricated meetings he attended with these executives. He pleaded guilty to creating a false record in a federal investigation and three counts of tax evasion. He will pay $675,502 in restitution and faces 6 years in prison.

This is exactly what should happen when someone fabricates evidence in a federal investigation. It is good that there is accountability when evidence is fabricated, especially when someone of significant prominence is targeted. It reminds us of all the people who went to jail for fabricating the Steele Dossier in an attempt to keep Donald Trump out of the White House in 2016. Oops. I guess they are still investigating that one. We will hold our breath and see what happens.

Sunny Hostin has an epiphany that not everyone is rich.

Our take: In a rare moment of sanity, Sunny Hostin stated she “missed the mark” on the reasons Democrats were soundly defeated in the 2024 election. In the weeks since the election, Hostin has blamed "misogyny," "racism,” and “uneducated white women,” among other things, for the loss. In a rare moment where she showed her intelligence and self-reflection, Hostin acknowledged her modest upbringing in relation to some of the reasons working-class people broke from the Democrat party.

'My mistake,' Hostin admitted, 'was in terms of realizing that there are so many Americans that still have that experience that I grew up with.'  'My parents had to decide whether they were going to feed me or whether or not we were going to have heat,' Hostin revealed.

We have always found Sunny Hostin to be particularly irritating because she is clearly highly intelligent yet also clearly captured by ideological dogmas that blind her to the reality many people in our country face. This is either a sign that the world will end soon, or maybe that even the staunchest supporters of well-meaning but misguided thought processes are starting to see The Matrix.
