Under Newsom’s leadership, California faces budget deficits between $15- $25 billion each year through 2029
Our take: In Gavin Newsom’s first year as California Governor, the state budget was $208 billion. Under Newsom’s “leadership”, the budget is now over $300 billion, peaking at $332 billion in 2024-2025. In addition to the budget skyrocketing by over 50%, California ran deficits of $27 billion and $55 billion in the past 2 budget cycles.
Maybe this jackass should spend less time trying to be Donald Trump on social media and run his state. We cannot stand this fake, plastic, soulless jerk. If Democrats nominate him to be their presidential candidate in 2028, we cannot see how he possibly gets elected. Every political job he has had, he has left the place in shambles.

Former TV anchor sentenced to 10 years in prison for bogus COVID-19 PPP loan business scam
Our take: Stephanie Hockridge was a prominent TV anchor in Phoenix for 7 years, even earning an Emmy nomination. In 2020, she left her role to become an entrepreneur with her husband. Their “preneur” was to send in fraudulent PPP loan applications to tap into the $800 billion government bailout program designed to help businesses when the nation freaked out and closed a bunch of businesses for no reason.
Hockridge and her husband took kickbacks from the loans they participated in. Hockridge’s husband claimed to be a Black veteran on one application—he is neither. Her husband took a plea deal and will be sentenced in December.
Hockridge was found guilty in June and ordered to pay back $64 million in restitution for the fraud. The good news is she gets to go to the same prison as Ghislaine Maxwell, so she should have fun there. Good riddance to her and her husband, pretending to help small businesses and stealing from taxpayers.

Childless woman shares story of being pressured to give up her approved holiday PTO to trade with a co-worker with kids
Our take: A woman submitted her time off request for December in May. She received approval. This woman has no children. A co-worker found a “dream vacation” a few weeks before Christmas. The mom asked the non-mom to give up some of her time because they could not both be off at the same time. The non-mom politely declined. HR called in the non-mom and leaned on her to “think about the kids” and trade days with her co-worker. She politely declined.
This is really basic. There is nothing wrong with asking a co-worker to swap days off or vacation days. If they decide not to switch, deal with it. You don’t get preferential treatment simply because you have kids, and the co-worker doesn’t. I have 3 kids. I’m firmly on the single people’s side on this one. Your life is not more important than someone else’s because you have kids.
