Our take: I know there is fatigue around this story. Anyone who saw Joe Biden, especially in the final 2 years of his presidency, could see he was struggling with problems every person who ages struggles with eventually. The fact he was not mentally capable of doing the job is not front-page news to anyone.
However, the fact that the Biden inner circle limited access not only by the public but also by members of the government up to and including cabinet members deserves to be aired out in the sunlight for a long time. This is a major presidential scandal, and the comparisons to Watergate are not inappropriate.
The crime that kicked off the Watergate scandal was a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Hotel. It turns out the break-in was masterminded and performed by people on Nixon’s team. The real scandal happened when Nixon and his team tried to cover it up, eventually leading to Nixon resigning to avoid his inevitable impeachment.
The issue is the same here. While there may not have been a crime (I don’t know if that’s true or not, but as of this writing there has not been one), there was certainly a cover-up by the Biden administration. The same question Nixon had to answer should apply to Biden and his handlers: what did the President and his team know, and when did they know it?

The columnist swings and misses in an attempt at humor on Democratic politics
Our take: It has been clear since the 2024 presidential election that the Democratic Party has been adrift without any real leadership. It is comical to us to see all the handwringing and nail-biting performed by those desperate to become relevant again.
One of the ideas Democrats cling to is that Trump’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Podcast was a difference maker, especially when Kamala Harris could or would not make scheduling an appearance for herself possible. Somehow, Rogan has been labeled as a right-winger despite decades of evidence to the contrary, most notably his support of Bernie Sanders in the 2020 election. Democrats somehow think that if they had a “left-wing” Joe Rogan available to help spread their message, it would help them overcome the challenges they are currently dealing with.
This columnist wrote what we think was supposed to be a humorous article about the situation. Unfortunately, he left out any humor. He takes potshots at Rogan, Republicans, and white men, among others.
He also does a lot of virtue signaling about what a great liberal he is. Little does he know his article is a ringing endorsement for the Republican Party. People are tired of holier-than-thou eggheads looking down their noses at the hoi polloi. If he keeps writing articles this shitty, he could get the 22nd Amendment repealed and usher Trump back into office for a 3rd term.

“Self-Showing” real estate scam burns couple for $1,800
Our take: Scammers are everywhere these days. Bogus emails, fake texts, and fraudulent advertisements abound. One must be careful, as it is hard to tell if a person is aboveboard or not.
One couple fell for a real estate scam that seemed legitimate. They needed a house to rent and found a listing online. When they contacted the landlord/owner, the landlord stated they could see the property by accessing it through a lockbox code without the owner being present. The couple got the code, checked out the property, liked it, and signed a lease to move in. They also paid first and last month’s rent, as well as a $100 application fee.
Their application was accepted, they paid the landlord $1,800, and they moved in. Unfortunately, they soon found out the person posing as the landlord was not involved with the property in any way. He somehow got the lockbox code and was using it to set up victims to pay him what they thought was rent.
The scammer always responded to calls and emails. He provided receipts with each payment made. The house was vacant and in good shape, so the couple thought nothing of it.
Shortly after moving in, the actual owner sent them a letter telling them they were occupying the property illegally and needed to vacate. The fake landlord was nowhere to be found. Neither was their $1,800.
Oof. What a kick in the plums. It’s hard to fault this couple for believing the fake landlord. He communicated well, provided receipts, and, most importantly, had the lockbox code so they could access the property. Now they are out $1,800 and need to find an actual place to live.
The moral of the story here is to make sure you have at least some ways to verify people before you send them money. If you never meet them in person, you could wind up in the same leaky boat as these unfortunate people.

Tip of the Day
Your brain, like any other body part, improves with exercise. A great way to give your brain a workout is to test your recall. Throughout the day, see how many details of a given moment, list, or task you can remember.
Try to memorize small things each day. Write a grocery list and commit it to memory. Memorize a small passage from a poem or book. Wait an hour and see how much you can recall of what you've committed to memory.[1]
Draw a map from memory. Sketch a map going from your home to work, a store, a friend's house, or another place you frequently visit.
Notice the little details. Making a conscious effort to notice seemingly irrelevant things can be a huge tool to help you become more logical. Do you notice the new paper cut on your friend's hand? Do you count the steps in your school or college? Do you look for spelling mistakes in texts? If the answer is no, now would be a great time to start. The more you practice, the healthier your mind will be. Over time, you'll become a more critical thinker.
