Man dodges a bullet after his girlfriend rejects his proposal because he “bought the wrong ring”

Our take: An engagement ring is a symbol of a man’s commitment to his future spouse. The act of purchasing it and presenting it to the woman is the only thing that matters. The ring itself is irrelevant. It is good that men spend time, effort, and thought in trying to pick a ring that they think fits their future spouse perfectly. All that said, if the woman you are proposing to doesn’t say “I love it!!! ” enthusiastically and accept it without reservation, you should grab it and run the other way.

I have been married to the best woman I have ever met for 32 years. 33.5 years ago, I gave her an engagement ring that had more of a diamond chip than an actual diamond in it. She said yes, hugged and kissed me, and we got married.

Now she wears a platinum wedding band with a stone big enough to drill oil wells. She has this because of the life we have built together—based on respect and undying loyalty to each other. Not because she was a high-maintenance jerk about the ring I got her that may have been bought out of a gumball machine.

Dad fights off would be kidnapper in Walmart days before Christmas

Our take:  Here is one for the “toxic masculinity. An Oregon father fought off a knife-wielding would-be kidnapper at Walmart days before Christmas. The attacker followed the family around the store and tried to snatch their toddler out of the trolley. The dad fought the man off, but during the struggle, the attacker pulled a knife out.

The father won the struggle, and the attacker dropped the knife and fled. His license plate was captured, and he was tracked down and arrested by police. You’re welcome again, feminists.

Etiquette expert says standing up as soon as the plane lands is the right move

Our take: An etiquette expert says that standing up as soon as the plane lands is the right move. It helps expedite the deplaning process, makes people feel less trapped and claustrophobic, and has the added benefit of stopping assholes who think their time and space are more important than everyone else’s and shove their way past people because they didn’t learn to wait their turn in line in kindergarten.

Tip of the day: How to win friends and influence people

Pay Attention

Active listening is more than just hearing words—it involves truly engaging with the speaker. Show that you’re listening by nodding, maintaining eye contact, and giving verbal cues like “I see” or “That makes sense.”

This strengthens your connection with the speaker and helps ensure you understand their message.
