7th suspect arrested in beatdown in Cincinnati
Our take: Cincinnati has taken a public image beating since the actual beatings that happened downtown a few weeks ago went viral. Since the fallout, multiple suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement. A seventh suspect has been arrested this week.
Our 3 favorite things about this story are the police chief blaming the press and influencers for “their part” in this incident, a sitting councilwoman saying the victims were “begging for that beatdown” and then attempting to justify her comments, and the mayor holding a press conference where a “pastor” compared the victims being beaten to suspects resisting arrests, asking why “they didn’t just comply.”
You literally cannot make this stuff up. People cannot see past their own little world and see the reality of situations. We are willing to bet that all the people involved (victims and suspects) had been drinking. We also believe that they were all engaged in verbal exchanges, either expressing a desire to fight or engaging in physical altercations. They all deserve to be investigated and prosecuted for their actions—victims and suspects alike.

Couple murdered in Australia, woman was 5 months pregnant, man found decapitated with head on a spike
Our take: The people of Australia don’t fuck around. They work hard, they play hard, and at least in this case, they even take murder to an extreme.
Athena Georgopoulos, 39, and her husband, Andrew Gunn, 50, were found brutally murdered in their Melbourne home Monday. Georgopoulos was 5 months pregnant. Gunn was found decapitated, and his head was mounted on a spike inside the home. A 34-year-old man was arrested at a train station 4 miles from the home with blood still on his clothes. Police believe the suspect and the couple knew each other, and the attack was targeted.
Good lord. I am not sure I want to know what the dispute was about that led to these gruesome acts. I do know that if I travel to Australia, I will be super friendly and polite to anyone I meet.

Spirit Airlines warns it may still go out of business despite its recent Chapter 11 filing
Our take: Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy 5 months ago, which allowed them to reorganize their company and work with creditors to restructure debt and, in theory, free up/secure cash to keep the company afloat.
This week, Spirit says it has “substantial doubt” about its ability to continue as a going concern over the next year despite the recent reorganization. If you have ever flown on Spirit, this will not surprise you in the least. Spirit is known for several things. It has low-cost base fares but charges extra money for everything from picking which seat you sit in to bringing on any bag larger than a coin purse. They have bright yellow planes.
They also seem to have some of the wildest passenger interactions known to man, based on the multiple YouTube videos we have seen with police wrestling psychos off the Spirit jetway. You are risking your life when you fly on Spirit, and it has nothing to do with the employees or the aviation safety. It’s like Mad Max on those planes with those crazy people flying for almost no money.
