An assistant principal in Georgia was allegedly caught stealing from Walmart 98 times

Our take: An assistant principal in Georgia is accused of giving herself a 2-for-1 deal at Walmart’s self-checkout lane – 98 times. It is alleged that she would take 2 items and stack them on top of each other. The scanner picked up the bottom item, but she got the top item for free. Nice. The alleged perpetrator was first suspected of the crime when she was observed running a 3-card monte game on the playground at recess. OK – everything is true, but that last sentence, but it sure was funny.

The world may be ending as Dem politician calls on Minnesota leaders to cooperate with ICE to deport undocumented criminals

Our take: Dean Phillips, a former Congressman and presidential candidate, called on Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis mayor Tim Frey to cooperate with federal law enforcement to deport undocumented criminals, saying “it’s common sense.”

After Phillips made his comments, dogs were seen playing with cats, men were asking for directions when they were lost, women were admitting they were wrong about the argument they were in with their spouse, kids were happily eating broccoli, and Donald Trump refused to be the center of attention at his press conference.

Believe it or not, the statement about Phillips is true. It seems almost as impossible as the other stuff we made up, but it’s true.

Tip of the day – How to control your emotions from Professor George Buzzell

If you’ve ever blown something small out of proportion, you probably felt pretty bad afterward. The good news is that Buzzell believes that the best way to manage explosive emotional experiences is through a regular practice of prevention.

He recommends practicing reappraisal daily with small instances. This makes it less likely that you’ll yell at someone the next time Zoom kicks you out of class.

“The problem is if it’s a really intense situation, that’s not the time to try to do some mindfulness or reappraisal strategies for the first time,” Buzzell says.

Having a healthy relationship with your emotions is more likely to make challenging times easier by preventing tense emotional interactions.

If you have been struggling with controlling your emotions, know that it’s normal for you not feel like yourself during unusual times. While we’re waiting for the world to go back to normal, don’t forget to take care of your emotional wellness. Practicing these techniques can help you get a grasp on your emotions and help you relax, feel good, and be well.
