Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi eying move back to US after moving to England
Our take: Ellen Degeneres and her wife Portia di Rossi decided America was untenable after Donald Trump won a second term as President. They moved to England to be “safe”. It turns out, the UK ain’t all it’s cracked up to be, and America isn’t so bad. Both have expressed a desire to move back to the US. This reminds us of two of our favorite sayings.
First, in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Willie warns insufferable brat Slugworth that the gobstopper he wants so bad will not be good for him. Slugworth decides he knows best and demands said gobstopper. Willie Wonka simply replies: “If Slugworth wants a gobstopper, he gets one!”, after which Slugworth meets his demise. The second saying is “Be careful what you wish for because you might get it.”
The good news for Degeneres and di Rossi is that they are US Citizens and they get to come back, even if no one wants them back. The UK can have them for all we care.

Our take: At one point Ken Griffin had his hedge fund headquartered in Chicago, where he employed over 1,000 people and owned tens of millions of dollars in real estate. Citing lack of safety and high taxes, he made the decision to sell off all his real estate and relocate his business to Florida. He recently sold his last piece of real estate, completing the move in roughly 3 years. He also went to his employees and asked them if they would relocate, with the vast majority of them enthusiastically agreeing to do so.
With the rise in support for socialism, this should be a cautionary tale to voters who think there is no limit to how much you can tax wealthy people before they fight back. In general, wealthy people are smart with money and know how tax codes work. If you push them past the point of no return, they will use their considerable resources to relocate, taking their taxes and the jobs they create with them. Then whose money will the socialists take at gunpoint to run their crappy government programs?

Wife cancels snow removal service to save money, gets pissed when husband tells her to shovel snow by herself
Our take: A newly married couple has a different approach to household chores. The husband used to pay for all household work to be done by service providers. The wife grew up in a house where you did things yourself. After marriage, the husband agreed to keep paying for services, or to give the money budgeted for services to the wife to use for the rest of the household expenses if she decided to do the work herself. Seems like a good solution.
For you married men, you know what comes next. It snows, the woman cancels the snow shoveler and expects the husband to do it. The husband references the aforementioned deal and says you better grab a shovel since you canceled the service I had arranged. Clearly the husband is in the right here, which he can explain to the divorce court when he goes there.

Tip of the day: How to win friends and influence people
Show Empathy
Empathy is key to connecting with others, especially in multicultural environments. Try to understand the perspective of your colleagues or clients, particularly when cultural differences come into play.
Ask questions like, “How do you feel about this?” to show genuine interest in their thoughts. This not only builds rapport but also opens the door for deeper connections.
