Dolly Parton assures well-wishers she “ain’t dead yet” after her sister asks fans for prayers
Our take: It’s hard not to love Dolly Parton. An ICON in entertainment for over half a century, Dolly is a cultural icon. Last week, her sister went on Facebook saying Dolly “hasn’t been feeling her best lately” and asking fans to pray for Dolly.
It turns out Dolly is not as bad off as her sister made out. Parton shared a video of herself on social media to calm people down. The comment that accompanied the video was “I ain’t dead yet.” Dolly is a beauty. Hopefully, she has a lot of years left.

Rumors about Bill Belichick leaving North Carolina swirl
Our take: Bill Belichick is a legend in NFL coaching. 6 Super Bowls as a head coach, 2 Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator, and second place on the all-time wins list. He parted ways with the New England Patriots in 2023 after 24 seasons.
He is only 14 wins behind Don Shula for the most wins ever by an NFL head coach, which is one of many reasons it was surprising to everyone when he agreed to become the head coach of a college program, the North Carolina Tar Heels.
To say his first season has been a disappointment is an understatement. On the field, UNC is currently 2-3 in 14th place in the ACC. Off the field, Belichick has drawn genuine concern from those close to him for his weird and gross relationship with a crazy girl almost 50 years his junior. He has also banned any Patriots personnel from the UNC facility due to an ongoing pissing match with his former boss, Robert Kraft.
Rumors have now surfaced that Belichick and the administration are talking about a buyout of Belichick’s contract. Oof. With as many NFL teams in ‘win right now’ mode and in need of coaching (Cincinnati, the New York Giants, Cleveland, and Tennessee all come to mind), it may be in all parties’ best interests to cut their losses and move on. Either way, someone needs to figure out what the hell Belichick is doing with this dragon lady who has somehow corrupted his ability to think logically.

A Florida man steals $7,000 in lottery tickets, then comes back to try to redeem the winners
Our take: A man who needed money held up a convenience store, stealing $7,000 in lottery tickets. He then went to several places to try and redeem the winning scratch-offs, including the same store he stole them from around 40 minutes after the theft.
Police used surveillance video to track down and arrest the criminal mastermind. All I know is that after I read the headline, before I read any details, I knew this happened somewhere in Florida.

Tip of the day for falling in love with Boredom
Option 2: Fall in love with a result of the task rather than the task itself.
Let's be real: there are some things that we should do that are always going to be a hassle. Running sprints might be an example. Very few people look forward to setting their lungs on fire.
I find that I have more success in situations like these when I shift my focus away from the actual task and toward a result. Sometimes this is a direct result of the habit I'm trying to perform. Other times, it's a result that I invent. For example, you can make a game out of not missing workouts even if you don’t enjoy the workout itself. Let’s say you have done two sprint workouts in a row. Your goal is to fall in love with becoming the type of person who doesn’t miss workouts. You’re not worried about how you perform. You’re not worried about if you’re getting faster. You’re not worried about getting six-pack abs or any other type of result. For the most part, you’re not even thinking about the workout. Instead, you’re simply focused on keeping your workout streak alive.
This is basically the Seinfeld Strategy applied to exercise. Your only goal is to “not break the chain.” By shifting your focus away from the activity you dislike, you're giving yourself an opportunity to fall in love with the boredom of sticking to the streak (something you do enjoy).
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Once I tell myself I’m going to do something, there is no going back. I don’t negotiate with myself.” – Kobe Bryant
