Bernie Sanders proves he does not understand math once again
Our take: We love all of Bernie Sanders's ideas. We would love to provide free health care and college for everyone. Unfortunately, here in reality, nothing is free. If you spend more than you make, you go into debt and have to pay it back. If you don’t pay it back, someone else loses money. Once enough people are losing money, the whole system collapses.
Jon Stewart pointed this out to Sanders yet again on his talk show. Stewart pointed out that government subsidies with no cost controls always lead to inflation, which Trump understands but Democrats don’t. Sanders responded with his tired “oligarchs and billionaires need to pay their fair share of taxes” line, which always sounds good.
Unfortunately for Sanders and those who cannot do math that follow him, the top 10% of taxpayers already pay roughly 40% of all the income tax collected.
The American tax system is one of the most progressive (meaning the more you make, the more you pay in taxes) systems in the world. If you confiscated everything Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Warren Buffett own right now, you could fund the US government for about 4 months.
We don’t have an income problem; we have a spending problem. Sorry, Bernie—you’re going to have to get a job and pay for your own lunch, and so is everybody else.

Man accused of attempting to run over a kid on an e-bike, leaving his wife at the scene
Our take: A man was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief after he tried to hit a kid with his car after the man and his wife were in a confrontation with a group of kids riding e-bikes on the road they were on. The man and his wife claimed the kids were aggressively trying to impede their path. The woman got out and confronted the kids.
The man then tried to hit one of the kids and drove off, leaving his wife to deal with the kids and the police when they came. You guessed it. This all happened in Florida.

Democrats are starting to realize they are over their skis on the government shutdown
Our take: The government shutdownis now in its 4th week. Republicans offered a bill that extended government funding exactly as it is for 7 more months. Democrats realized the subsidies they put into their own bill (the ACA, also known as Obamacare) were expiring and tried to leverage the situation to fix their mistake. Democrats said they would not pass the resolution unless the subsidies were extended. Republicans said kick rocks.
The Democrats thought they could spin this as the Republicans not caring about health care for people. Instead, most people understand the Democrats want to extend the subsidies because they also help illegal immigrants. Republicans have held firm, and Democrats are panicking.
Republicans all voted yes to pass the resolution and keep the government open. Unfortunately, they need at least 5 Democrats to vote yes as well to get to the 60 votes necessary to pass the resolution in the Senate. In the next few weeks, Democrats will realize they are taking the blame on this and come to the table. Until then, we will have to listen to all these people bleating their talking points anywhere someone is willing to stick a microphone in their face.

Tip of the day for making friends
Do interesting things.
If you’re excited about life, you manifest that by doing new things, learning, creating, exploring, trying out new experiences, and meeting new people. If you are this kind of person, you’ll be interesting. If you shut out life, people might not be as interested.
