CURRENT EVENTS

The Democratic Party continues to deny reality.

Our take: The old saying goes, Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Someone should explain that to the Democratic Party. Despite a sound walloping in the November election, the Democrats have shown a dogged determination to pretend nothing happened.

After a shellacking like the one delivered by American voters, most losing parties would shake things up. Admit to their mistakes. Find new leadership to chart a new way forward. Not the Geritol gang on Capitol Hill. Chuck Schumer has been reelected as minority leader in the Senate. Nancy Pelosi has exerted her significant political power to block AOC (we are no fans, but she is an up-and-coming star in the party) from a leadership role on the House oversight committee in favor of a 74-year-old dinosaur with esophagus cancer. Harris’ advisors don’t see how they did not win with the “flawless” campaign they ran.

It reminds us of two Talking Heads songs: “Road to Nowhere” for obvious reasons, and “Once in a Lifetime” for the verse “same as it ever was” over and over again. This is all good news if you are not a Democrat. If you are, you’re not going to enjoy the next several years, as your fearless leaders did not listen to anything you just told them.

Adam Kinzinger outraged he has to explain slimy behavior

Our take: Stephen A. Smith, who normally yells about sports, took time out to yell about the 20+ FBI informants in the crowd on that fateful day in 2021. He, like many Americans, is tired of elected officials and others in positions of power pissing on our heads and telling us it's raining.

Kinzinger, who did not run for reelection in the 2022 midterms, took exception to Smith’s musings. Recall Kinzinger was one of the token Republicans on the farcial January 6th Committee that put on a play to pretend they were investigating what actually happened that day when they were actually trying to prevent Trump from winning the White House again. So he has a vested interest in defending the fact that for 4+ years, government officials have intentionally withheld information from the American people to push the narrative they want everyone to buy.

More than one thing can be true at the same time. Bad stuff happened on January 6th. Many people attacked police officers, damaged government property, and made threats against members of Congress. Many more people committed zero violent acts and were relentlessly prosecuted by the government. In an attempt to stop any conjecture that anyone but Trump was responsible for these events, government officials, including Kinzinger, intentionally withheld facts they did not like to push their narrative. We vote he sits down and shuts his mouth. We are done with weasels like this guy.

Senator Murphy sounds the alarm on “Trump’s plan to cripple our democracy.”

Our take: Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut is espousing his conspiracy theory that President-elect Trump has launched his attack on our democracy. For his evidence, Murphy cites “House Republican’s referral of Liz Cheney for criminal prosecution—on made-up charges—shows you the plan.”

The “trumped up charges” he is referencing are witness tampering as a Vice Chairman of the January 6th committee. Those seem like pretty serious charges to us. In fact, they seemed pretty serious to Cheney as well when she was running the committee. She cited several instances (anonymous, of course) where Trump allies contacted witnesses ahead of their testimony in front of the committee in order to “pressure” them to support Trump. If Cheney did nothing wrong, it should not be any big deal for her to be investigated and found innocent of any wrong doing.

It’s not like she committed a serious crime like paying hush money to a porn star or participating in real estate transactions where no one lost money, banks were paid back every penny of their loan, and all parties were interested in doing more deals together. Those types of crimes need to be punished to the full extent of the law. Bullshit stuff like witness tampering in a congressional investigation is clearly made up. Nothing to see here. Just send another contract to Halliburton and move along. Murphy seems like a jackass who thinks we are too stupid to see the truth. Go sell your snake oil somewhere else because nobody here is buying it.
