2 kids dead, at least injured when transgender man shoots up church at Catholic church at a Minneapolis school

Our take: A 23-year-old transgender man opened fire on a church filled with school children in Minnesota, killing 2 children aged 8 & 10 before turning the gun on himself. At least 17 others were injured. The shooter's mother was an employee at the school the church was located at.

Before anyone comes out and says, “This was completely unexpected; no one knew he was thinking about shooting up a church,” the shooter’s online footprint shows he was publicly discussing his desires. Videos of the shooter pointing at a diagram of a church while saying “kill the kids” and “kill myself” before stabbing the diagram with a knife are among the many things found online.

The shooter was a transgender man who legally changed his name to Robin. He purchased the guns used in the attack legally. The only reason the fact that the shooter was transgender matters is that until 2019, being transgender was classified as a mental illness, at which time it was reclassified by the WHO to the chapter on sexual health. People with mental illnesses are not allowed to purchase firearms. The charade we have engaged in as a society has real-world consequences.

We have nothing against transgender people. We simply want them to get help from medical professionals to deal with the mental illness they are suffering from instead of being affirmed by society as if it’s completely normal to think you are the opposite gender. We don’t pander to people suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or the many other mental illnesses that people suffer from. We are not being kind to people when we enable their delusions and let them stay trapped in their mental illness. We are doing the opposite.

This is a tragic event, and we do not want to politicize these senseless deaths. We hope the families affected can find some peace and comfort as they move through the grieving process.

Woman in a wheelchair says strangers keep grabbing her wheelchair

Our take: A UK woman who is confined to a wheelchair shares that strangers will grab her wheelchair without her consent fairly regularly. This is a disturbing story, to say the least. What on earth would possess someone to see a person in a wheelchair and think, “I should go up and push that person or move their wheelchair without saying a word to them”?

Can you imagine? Maybe we have a different perspective because our maternal grandmother was confined to a wheelchair due to contracting polio before the vaccine was introduced in the 1950s. The only reality I even knew was that my grandmother needed a wheelchair to get around, and I would help put it in and out of the Chevy Impala she got around in and would push her on shopping trips.

But it seems pretty basic to us—if you don’t know someone, keep your fucking hands to yourself. If you do know them, still keep your fucking hands to yourself. Not that hard, people—figure it out.

Man sentenced to 89 days in jail for faking his own death to run off to Uzbekistan to be with his fling

Our take: A Wisconsin man was sentenced to 89 days in jail for faking his own death during a solo camping trip so he could skip the country and head to Uzbekistan to be with his online fling. The man staged a kayaking accident to make it look like he drowned, but no body was ever found. The caper included a 70-mile overnight bike ride to catch a bus to Detroit so he could cross into Canada and then fly to Asia to hook up with his flame.

After almost 2 months of searching for the man, his name popped up on a search by Canadian law enforcement. From there, they tracked him down in Uzbekistan, where he admitted he had faked the accident to skip out on his responsibilities (he was married for almost 22 years at the time) and get his rocks off.

This is wild. We wonder how his ex-wife feels about things. And his Uzbeki Lolita. You ca accuse this guy of a lot of things, but being lazy ain’t one of them. Let’s see what he does after he is done serving his time.

Tip of the day

These life tips are all about becoming the best version of yourself. It's so easy to hold grudges for a long time and to plot revenge or sabotage someone. But does that actually help you? More importantly, what if someone did that to you every time you did something bad during a bad day? You assume your positive intent but don't consider someone else's. Don't allow yourself to get stuck in thought loops you can't get out of. Take some time out of your morning to practice a loving-kindness meditation to express love for people instead of holding grudges against them.

Quote of the Day

“When you are asked if you can do a job, tell ‘em, 'Certainly I can!” Then get busy and find out how to do it.” - Theodore Roosevelt
