Eight skiers dead, one still missing, six survivors saved
Our take: We share this story for multiple reasons. First, to mourn and respect those who perished in the avalanche. Second, to thank the lord that six people were rescued by close to 50 brave rescuers who risked their lives to go search for victims. Third, to recognize and thank those folks who literally risked their lives to save these folks.
And finally, to point out that no one cares if the people who perished, the people who survived, or the rescuers were Republican or Democrat, supported the 2nd amendment or not, believed abortion should be legal or illegal. We mourn those who were killed and celebrate those who were saved, as well as the heroes who saved them. It’s easy to lose sight of what really matters when we become myopic in our everyday lives. Make sure you regularly zoom out and look at the bigger picture. If you do, you will be much more likely to treat your fellow humans with empathy and compassion, even when you disagree with them or they make you angry. We all have the same fate coming. We should be good to each other while we are here together.

Proposed NYC budget relies on tax increases on the rich or an almost 10% property tax hike
Our take: The "rich," defined as those with $1 million or more in taxable income, already pay more than 40% of all income tax collected by NYC. Comrade Mamdani, who has never had a job his parents didn’t fund or enable, says they need to pay more, or he will have to raise property taxes almost 10% to close the more than $5 billion gap that exists. Also necessary is tapping the “rainy day fund” to the tune of $1 billion. This is what you voted for, NYC—congratulations!
Someone with some business experience needs to pull Comrade Mamdani aside and let him know there is an entire side of the ledger he is not considering, which is called “costs.” Anyone with any business experience knows while increasing revenue is a great objective, you must be a hawk on cost if you want to balance a budget. No word from the “Office of Warmth of Collectivism” if any of the unnecessary programs are on the chopping block. I wonder how the free buses and government-subsidized grocery stores work when the budget is already $5 billion in the red.
Comrade Mamdani cannot print money like our federal government continues to do, which is also a terrible approach as it only kicks the inevitable bill down the road and will at some point lead to inflation like government debt does every single time in history. I don’t watch a movie I have already seen and expect a different ending. I don’t understand why that’s hard for some people to grasp.

A man with one hand kicked out of the emergency exit row by airline staff complains to the internet
Our take: Bro – you’ve got one hand. In many situations, this won’t matter at all, and we certainly support your right to live your life without harassment or discrimination. This is not that. The emergency exit row has physical requirements that you do not meet. Grab your shit and find a new seat. If you paid extra for the legroom, you’re entitled to a refund, but not an apology. Some people man…

Tip of the day – How to think critically
Analyze group influences on your life:
Closely analyze the behavior that is encouraged and discouraged in the groups to which you belong. For any given group, what are you "required" to believe? What are you "forbidden" to do? Every group enforces some level of conformity. Most people live much too much within the view of themselves projected by others. Discover what pressure you are bowing to and think explicitly about whether or not to reject that pressure.
