A woman tries to kill her sleeping boyfriend with a hatchet

Our take: A woman in North Dakota is accused of trying to kill her boyfriend with a hatchet. A witness said it sounded like she was “splitting wood.”

This is our second separate story in as many days of a spouse trying to murder or murdering their partner with a hatchet. Seriously – what’s up with hatchets? These people don’t have knives, hammers, a rope, a gun – anything else? After writing this, we are locking up all our wood-cutting tools so Mrs. Salty Ginger Talk doesn’t get any ideas.

Irish bookstore bans all Stephen King books after he takes shots at Charlie Kirk after the assassination

Our take: Famed horror writer Stephen King took it upon himself to speak ill of Charlie Kirk before his body had even made it back to his hometown. King took it upon himself to falsely claim that Kirk “called for LGBTQ+ individuals to be stoned to death.” This was much like the fiction that made King rich. It’s simply not true.

Ireland, the country my ancestors came from, has some people who did not take kindly to King making shit up about a guy who had just been murdered in front of thousands of people.

Belfast Books, based in Ireland, decided to pull all of King’s books from their website. I guess we know how King comes up with the ideas for his stories such as “The Shining,” “Pet Sematary,” and “Misery”—it’s easy when you’re a psycho. We don’t drink, but we would be delighted to share a Guinness with the lads from Belfast Books.

Congressman Dave Min claims the Kirk shooting suspect is a Trump supporter

Our take: Dave Min is a congressman from California. He is also a moron. For some reason, Min decided to try to convince everyone that the guy arrested as the suspect accused of killing Charlie Kirk was a Trump supporter. What?

The accused shooter was in a relationship with a transgender man. He inscribed anti-fascist and liberal markings on the shell casings found in the murder weapon.

He recently told family members how much he disliked Trump and Kirk at a family dinner. Yeah—sounds like a real Trump sycophant. Remember this—when people refuse to tell you the truth, it's because they know if you knew the truth, you would not give them the time of day going forward.

Tip of the day for changing habits

 Brace yourself for discomfort

When you’re trying to break a habit, one of the most important things to do is to prepare yourself to feel uncomfortable.

“As humans, we tend to avoid uncomfortable feelings,” Duke says. “When we’re trying to make a change, we often wait for willpower to kick in — but actually, it’s often our unwillingness to tolerate discomfort that keeps us from doing what we need to do.”

She suggests that you practice tolerating these feelings by making space for them and learning healthy ways to self-soothe.It’s a very important part of recovery!

And make sure you include your accountability partner too. They want to celebrate your wins as much as you do!
