Political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a Utah college campus, “person of interest” is in custody
Our take: Charlie Kirk, the political firebrand and founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative political brand that traveled the country engaging people in conversations, especially those with differing viewpoints, was assassinated at an event held at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Kirk was shot once in the neck and died from his injuries. Police have arrested a “person of interest.” Kirk was 31 years old and leaves behind a wife and 2 children under the age of 4.
No matter your political beliefs, we must stop viewing those with different opinions as “Nazis,” the enemy, and all the other vitriolic labels people hurl at others that disagree with them. Our country was built on the principle that everyone has the right to freely speak their mind without fearing for their personal safety.
Kirk’s shooting is the latest example of people losing their humanity as it relates to politics. In our lifetime, we have seen the attempted assassinations of Presidents Reagan and Trump and the shootings of representatives Gabby Giffords and Steve Scalise, as well as too many mass shootings to enumerate.
Stop attacking each other. Start acting like human beings. No one deserves the fate that Kirk met. The senselessness of it is unfathomable.

Charlie Sheen’s drug dealer thought he was selling some of his drugs because he was buying so much from the dealer
Our take: We are glad that Charlie Sheen has gotten to a better place. That said, this story is actually impressive. When Sheen’s drug habit was at its height, his dealer accused Sheen of unauthorized dealing because Sheen was buying so much product from the dealer. Ingesting this amount of drugs in such a short period of time should have been fatal. Maybe Sheen actually does have tiger blood like he once claimed.

75 cargo containers fell into Long Beach Harbor
Our take: Check your Amazon Prime date of arrival. It may get pushed back a few days after 75 shipping containers fell off a boat and into Long Beach Harbor. If any of the containers were filled with ramen, they should come back to the surface in a few days.

Tip of the day for changing habits
Make a Plan
Once you’ve admitted the problem, it’s time to come up with a plan for how to fix it. Don’t just say “I’ll eat less junk food” or “I’ll exercise more often.” Come up with concrete steps that will help make those goals achievable. For example: “I’m going to keep healthy snacks in my desk drawer at work so when I get hungry, I won’t go for the donuts.” Or “When I wake up in the morning, instead of going straight for coffee and checking Facebook first thing, I’m going to spend time in prayer and God’s word.” Whatever works for you! Just set yourself up for success by making sure your plan has some kind of actionable and measurable steps.
ACTION ITEM: Write out your plan. Be very specific about exactly what you’re committing to do. Sign it. Date it. Make copies of your plan and hang it where you can see it….on the bathroom mirror, on the refrigerator, in your car. Something simple like putting your action steps on paper brings a tangible nature to your commitments. They’re not just thoughts or words, but a physical, concrete object reflecting your next steps toward life-change. And be sure to share your action plan with your accountability partner.
