Man charged with attempted murder after shoving a stranger in front of a subway train

Our take: A 29-year-old medical student is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly pushing a 73-year-old man in front of a train arriving at a subway station in the Bronx. The two men did not know each other, and the attack appears to be unprovoked. Note to self – keep your head on a swivel in the subway. Between people pushing people in front of trains and setting them on fire, it’s probably worth considering an Uber.

Incumbent Walz drops bid for third term amid growing pressure from fraud scandals

Our take:  Tim Walz has dropped his bid to serve a third term as Minnesota Governor. Good news for the people of Minnesota. Plus, it will give him more time to fix trucks, work with Chinese protestors to ensure democracy, and whatever other bullshit he fed to the country in his failed attempt to become Vice-President. We don’t wish anyone ill will, but we sure hope this is the last we see of this weirdo in the political spectrum.

Wisconsin judge convicted of obstructing ICE operations resigns

Our take: Several months ago, we shared the story of a judge in Wisconsin who had been arrested and charged with obstructing ICE activities and helping an illegal immigrant escape capture. We said on its face, it looked cut and dried. As it turns out, it was cut and dried. Judge Hannah Dugan was acquitted on the misdemeanor charge of helping the immigrant escape but convicted on the felony charge of obstructing ICE activities.

Dugan has appealed the verdict and still proclaims her innocence, but to her credit, has resigned her position so the court can appoint a new judge to hear cases since she has been suspended with pay for months since the incident took place. She may have made a mistake in her actions that day, but we give her credit for doing the right thing and resigning her position after being found guilty of the charges. We also do not begrudge her appealing the verdict and availing herself of the full access to the legal remedies available to her.
