Minnesota AG says “fraud happens”, thinks his team did a good job after $300 million was stolen
Our take: If you think that you should look at yourself, your team, and your policies after there was $300 million stolen on your watch, you are not ready for politics. The Minnesota AG thinks they did a good job working with feds and investigating the fraud after it happened. Not a word about fraud prevention or lax policies because they were afraid to call immigrants thieves and liars, or even a “sorry we allowed $300 million of your tax dollars to go to dirtbags instead of hungry kids.” All is good according to Ellison.
What a douche. It seems to run in the family. Ellison’s son Jeremiah was elected to Minneapolis City Council. He then accepted a full-time fellowship at Harvard, which is in Boston. You would think Ellison would resign his city council position in Minneapolis since he would be working full time in Boston. Nope. He decided he could do both and get paid for both at the same time. It begs the question—how do you walk with balls that big? I guess we could ask both father and son.

Odell Beckham Jr. loses the plot discussing the hardship of living off a $100 million payout over 5 years
Our take: Oof. OBJ was a phenomenal receiver for a while. That said, he should stop talking to the media immediately. During a podcast, OBJ lamented how living off $100 million 5-year contract isn’t what you think it is. He rightly called out that taxes take a big chunk, immediately cutting the payout to $60 million. Then he complained that after you spend $4 million per year (listing off a bunch of spending categories that included a “flaunt” and “Imma buy a car”), you are only left $40 million to live on for the rest of your life. Got it. A tough row to hoe.
Yikes – the most realistic thing he said was that “we weren’t taught about any financial literacy, we weren’t taught this skill ” True dat, OBJ – true dat.

Radio host Charlamagne backs up Southwest, making passengers who take up two seats buy two seats
Our take: Southwest Airlines made a policy change for 2026. It used to be that passengers who did not physically fit in one seat could buy one ticket but still fly. Starting in 2026, the new policy is that if you take up two seats, you must buy two tickets. This seems like common sense, but a small (meaning not that many people, not their physical size) group of people have been whining about the change. Radio host Charlamagne the God backed up Southwest, with the epic line, “If you don’t have the bread to buy another seat, you need to stop eating bread.” Tip of the cap to Charlamagne for making this really easy for people to understand.

Tip of the day for thinking critically
Find your own reputable sources of information, such as established news sites, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions. Try to avoid anonymous sources or sources with an ax to grind or a product to sell. Also, be sure to check when the information was published. An older source may be unintentionally offering up wrong information just because events have moved on since it was published; corroborate the info with a more recent source.
