Hypocritical lawmaker claims not take money from billionaires despite accepting donations from multiple billionaires
Our take: LA City Council member Eunisses Hernandez is facing a tough re-election battle. One of her tactics to win voters over is to play the “woman of the people” card, posting a video telling constituents she refuses “billionaire checks” for her campaign.
If that’s how she feels and she wants to take that approach, kudos to her. Except it’s totally false. Hernandez has taken campaign donations from Patty Quillin, wife of billionaire Netflix founder Reed Hastings, as well as billionaire heiress Elizabeth Simmons, whose daddy James is a hedge fund owner and investor.
Hernandez has been in office as drugs and crime have swept through LA, including in her district. She refuses to debate her opponents while making $240,000 a year in her position and cashing checks from billionaires despite saying otherwise. Unfortunately for Hernandez, the facts don’t help her much, so it looks like she is trying to create her own facts. Good luck, LA – you guys elected her.

Our take: In the wake of accusations that somewhere between $5 billion and $10 billion have been stolen by fraudulent businesses in Minnesota, almost one hundred mayors of cities in Minnesota have sent a letter to state lawmakers and Governor Tim Walz saying they now face potential tax increases for their cities because of unchecked spending, fraud, and inconsistent budgeting have turned an $18 billion budget surplus to a $3 billion budget deficit in the 28/29 budget. Good luck, Minnesota - you elected these guys.
