Woman stabbed to death on train in North Carolina after fleeing war-torn Ukraine
Our take: Imagine your home country is attacked by a foreign nation. After years of war and fearing for your life, you finally make it out and wind up in the United States. Life is good, and you feel safe and happy. You get a job at a pizza place. You board the train to head to work, and a homeless guy who has a history of violence and should not be out in society pulls out a pocketknife and stabs you to death from behind.
Oof. We incarcerate far too many people for trivial things in this country. Drug possession and not paying child support come to mind. The glut of these useless incarcerations clogs up the system and drains resources, preventing us from keeping dangerous people like this guy off the streets.
We need to find a different way to hold non-violent criminals accountable so we can keep people safe. This young lady lost her life for no good reason.

AOC stayed at high-end hotels while she traveled the country “fighting the oligarchy”
Our take: When you are fighting the oligarchy (whatever that means), it’s nice to be able to get a spa treatment or grab a $900 bottle of wine to keep your strength up. AOC had these things at her disposal as she lectured the country that affordable housing and a “living minimum wage” were critical for “ordinary citizens like us.”
It rings hollow when you preach that you are part of the proletariat when you are staying at swanky resorts, flying private jets or first class, and feasting on high-end food and drink. Remember this the next time you hear AOC telling you the world will end in 12 years if you don’t stop using electricity and toilet paper. This chick is a charlatan.

Man dies in collision with e-bike days after predicting he would die in a collision with an e-bike
Our take: A man who worked at Illinois State University died after being struck by an e-bike on the sidewalk. A week earlier, he told his wife he would be killed after being hit by an e-bike. It seems like he should have been on the lookout for e-bikes after his premonition.

Tip of the day for changing habits
Think long-term.
Habits often form because they satisfy short-term impulses, the way chewing on your nails might immediately calm your nerves. But short-term desires often have long-term consequences, such as nasty, splintered, chewed-up fingers. Focusing long-term while trying to change some habits will help you remember why you’re investing in the effort.
