FBI Director sues MSNBC columnist for “fabricating a specific lie” after crazy on-air claim

Our take: Columnists and others who work in media have a wide berth as it relates to freedom of speech. They can say almost anything so long as they qualify what is fact and what is opinion. Columnist Frank Figliuzzi best hope that his statements about Kash Patel are the latter and not the former.

Patel has filed suit against Figliuzzi after the columnist stated that “reportedly (Patel has) been visible at nightclubs far more than he has been on the seventh floor of the Hoover building” on an MSNBC show. Patel alleges that Figliuzzi made up the statements out of whole cloth, not relying on any sources and hiding behind the word “reportedly” to intentionally slander Patel.

MSNBC later walked back the claim, stating, “This was a misstatement. We have not verified this claim.” This brings to mind a catchphrase from “I Love Lucy” when Ricky would say to the red-headed star of the show, “LUUUUCY, YOU GOT SOME ‘SPLAINING TO DO….” From the looks of things, Figliuzzi better have a good lawyer.

LA mayor wants to clean LA up before the World Cup comes so the world will not see what a shithole she has let it become

Our take: For years, many have lamented the rise of crime, homelessness, and general decline of California, Los Angeles in particular. The brass has essentially responded with “nothing to see here, keep it moving.” The state has been controlled by Democrats for close to 2 decades since Arnold Schwarzenegger left the governor’s office to go impregnate his housekeeper.

The latest mayor of LA, Karen Bass, has had a rough go of it the past several months. Wildfires tore through large areas in January while Bass chose to take a trip to Ghana as a representative of then-President Biden. She was roundly criticized for her actions both before and after the crisis. One of the issues she encountered was her inability to manage the press and communications. It does not appear she has learned much from the experience.

Bass gave a statement this week, ostensibly to address the riots going on in downtown LA the past several days. One would think she would lead with what she is doing to regain control of the city and stop the looting and violence towards law enforcement officers. Nope. Instead, she lamented that the graffiti and vandalism caused by the rioters was extensive and would require “community-wide involvement” to repair before the World Cup was held in LA next year.

Seriously. You cannot make this stuff up. Bass defended illegal migrants over American citizens as rioters tore apart downtown. Now she is worried about optics while the riots still rage downtown.

Democrats keep refusing to learn the same lesson over and over. People care about their personal safety, and the majority of Americans want those in the country illegally removed. Those were big components of Donald Trump’s historic win in last year’s election. And Democrats keep choosing the wrong side of these critical issues. Their march towards irrelevance continues.

Fake headline tries to gin up division between Border Czar Homan and President Trump

Our take: We only included this story to point out how the media is agenda-driven. This one happens to be slanted against Trump, but all media outlets are guilty of it.

The backstory here is that Tom Homan, who runs ICE, said anyone who assaults or impedes law enforcement officers in the line of duty would be prosecuted. A reporter asked if that included elected officials like Governor Gavin Newsom. Homan said no one is above the law.

That statement was picked up by the media. A reporter asked Trump if he supported arresting Newsom. Trump said he would do it if he were Homan. Then a reporter asked Homan if he was going to arrest Newsom. Homan correctly stated he never said he wanted to arrest Newsom. He simply stated that anyone, including the governor, would face consequences if they broke the law and interfered with federal law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

Enter the knucklehead that wrote this article, Erik De La Garza. He tried to twist this like there was some sort of disagreement between Trump and Homan or that they were not thinking about this situation the same way. Nothing could be further from the truth. But De La Garza isn’t interested in the truth, at least in this instance.

Always pay attention to the details and don’t just read the headlines. When you dig into this story, the headline is just clickbait.
