Arnold Schwarzenegger tells The View that immigrants need to follow laws and try to acclimate to American society

Our take: The View has been on television for over 20 years. Founded and originally hosted by Barbara Walters, the show started out with journalistic integrity and entertainment value. It jumped the shark long ago, now serving as a never-ending source of fodder for writers, podcasters, and commentary shows to make fun of their inane discussions.

They did not disappoint when they had one of the most famous immigrants in the country on this week, movie star and former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Expecting him to be outraged at the current goings-on in LA regarding protests around ICE deportation activities, Arnold schooled them on how the majority of the country feels.

Schwarzenegger expressed gratitude at how warmly the country welcomed him when he immigrated from Austria at 21 years old. He spoke about the country being the land of opportunity and how immigrants had a responsibility to give back to the country that welcomes them and gives them opportunities they are not afforded in their own countries.

He also compared immigrating to a country to being a guest at someone’s house. You would be respectful, follow their rules, and show gratitude for their hospitality. We are not sure why this is hard to understand. We also don’t understand why people don’t understand if you came here illegally, you broke the law, and there will be consequences.

Trump's approval ratings remain strong as the country supports deportation efforts

Our take: In a blow to Democrats who expected the country to rally around their asinine protests for the Trump Administration enforcing the country’s laws, June polling shows that Trump’s approval ratings are the highest they have ever been.

Insider Advantage, rated the second-best national pollster in 2024, put its mid-June approval rating at a sky-high 54% and its disapproval down to 44%. Trump’s approval ratings have steadily grown in the first 6 months of his presidency, especially among Hispanics and African Americans.

The big divide in Trump/anti-Trump support tends to break across income and education lines, with people who hold advanced degrees and make more than 6 figures continuing to voice their displeasure with Trump and those making under 6 figures without advanced degrees supporting Trump.

If you think about which group is actually impacted day-to-day by the 10 million-plus illegal immigrants who poured through the open southern border during the Biden presidency, it’s not hard to figure out why this division is the way it is.

I would suggest those at the top of the income ladder and living largely isolated from the reality of the consequences of this migration get out in the real world and see what is happening to their fellow countrymen. If I hear another entitled wealthy person complain there will be no one left to build houses, pick crops, and clean toilets if we deport people, I may have to gouge my own eardrums out to keep my sanity. Miss the mark much?

Tip of the Day

Always vet new information with a cautious eye. Whether it’s an article someone has shared online or data that’s related to your job, always vet the information you're presented with. Good questions to ask here include, "Is this information complete and up to date?” “What evidence is being presented to support the argument?” and “Whose voice is missing here?”
