New York AG James accused of mortgage fraud
Our take: Letitia James, who ran for New York Attorney General largely on a platform that she would “sue the hell out of Donald Trump,” claimed that the “details matter” when prosecuting the real estate fraud case against him.
She piously claimed that Trump was responsible for any and all actions taken in his or his company’s name, and no one is above the law. We will see how she feels about all those comments now that some of her questionable real estate transactions are under scrutiny.
The U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced Thursday that they have referred James to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for alleged mortgage fraud. On “The Ingraham Angle,” host Laura Ingraham highlighted James’ cases against President Donald Trump’s New York business, saying how she used “all these novel applications of law to go after him.”
“This has been prosecuted in the past. Now, we have not heard her side of this, but these documents themselves are quite damning,” Turley said. “It’s hard to see how the residences listed were her principal residence.”
In a letter sent to the DOJ, FHFA Director William Pulte alleged that James potentially falsified “residence status for a Norfolk, Va.-based home in order to secure a lower mortgage rate,” as well as “misrepresenting property descriptions to meet stringent requirements for government-backed loans and government assistance.”
Turley went on to compare James’ case against Trump to this situation.
“Now, I’ll note that one of the things that Letitia James stressed in her case against Trump is that Trump had to review documents that were filed in his name,” Turley added. “So she dismissed the argument that this was something that Trump’s people put together. She said, ‘He’s ultimately responsible.’ So they alleged that she gave a power of attorney in a couple of these instances. But according to her own standard, that’s not enough.”
Let’s be clear here. The persecution of Donald Trump by rogue prosecutors was politically motivated and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Looking into these clerical issues around Ms. James’ real estate transactions is politically motivated and a waste of taxpayer dollars. That said, we enjoy a good public comeuppance when it happens to a particularly annoying and sanctimonious person. From our perspective, Ms. James is one of those people. We hope she gets a taste of the same snake oil she peddled to the American public.

A female fencer is on probation for a year for refusing to compete against men
Our take: We have been consistently on the side of women’s rights. When it comes to men participating in women’s sports, we will continue to side firmly with the vast majority of women who oppose it, who want to be able to compete on a fair playing field, not fear injury from bigger, stronger men, and not share locker rooms and other private spaces with them.
A female fencer stood up for her rights earlier this month. She refused to compete against a man who claimed he had the right to compete in the women’s fencing category because he identified as a woman.
Stephanie Turner, 31, was disqualified from USA Fencing’s Cherry Blossom Open when she took a knee rather than fence Redmond Sullivan, a 20-year-old who was born biologically male.
USA Fencing slapped her with a 12-month probation — which does not bar her from competing — but Turner said she’ll be “taking a break from fencing for a while in the US circuit” anyway.
Turner, who competes out of the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia and has been fencing for more than a decade, has said she usually won’t sign up for events where she knows there’s a chance of going up against a transgender opponent—but did so this time as a form of protest. Turner has competed against male opponents before, including a week before her protest, and has even beaten male competitors, according to the Daily Mail.
“Redmond didn’t hear me, and he comes up to me, and he thinks that I may be hurt, or he doesn’t understand what’s happening. He asks, ‘Are you OK? And I said, ‘I’m sorry’. I have much love and respect for you, but I will not fence you,’” Turner said earlier this month, notably not using her opponent’s preferred pronouns.
USA Fencing has said that Turner was disqualified for refusing to compete rather than for her protest.
Redmond has every right to compete and can do so—as a man, which he is. Someone needs to make this make sense to us. Simply calling men women or women men because they feel that’s what they are does not change science or reality.
We have also never understood “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” That is a story where the naked emperor is praised for his “new clothes” by people fearing punishment for telling the truth—that he was in fact naked. If you want to see that story playing out in real life, look no further than men competing in women’s sports and the brainwashed virtue signalers who support it.

Our take: Everyone loves a comeback story. Rocky, The Natural, and Annie all come to mind. Sometimes, the real world provides an example even better than the movies.
An IRS agent known for coming forward with allegations of misconduct against his colleagues during the Hunter Biden tax case is being named acting commissioner of the agency that previously retaliated against him.
The Trump administration named IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley acting commissioner after recently promoting him to senior adviser at the Treasury Department.
Shapley replaces veteran government official Melanie Krause after she resigned over a data-sharing agreement between the IRS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Krause is expected to remain IRS Commissioner through May 15 as the tax-collecting agency handles its busiest time of year.
Shapley is one of two IRS agents who came forward to Congress in 2023 with detailed allegations of misconduct by IRS and Justice Department officials in the long-running Hunter Biden tax case.
Testifying before the House Ways and Means Committee, Shapley and Ziegler informed lawmakers that their superiors at the agency were slow-walking the Biden tax probe and not allowing them to pursue relevant lines of inquiry. The pair followed up their testimony by substantiating their allegations with a pile of documents. The IRS agents also testified publicly and later delivered additional testimony and documents about Biden’s taxes and business dealings.
For coming forward, Shapley and Ziegler faced improper retaliation from the IRS, an independent federal monitor recently concluded after a long-running investigation. Shapley previously faced an ultimatum from the IRS to accept a demotion or resign from the agency, a threat the IRS backed off from after pressure from House Republicans.
It takes some stones to come forward with the information that Shapely & Ziegler came forward with, especially in light of the fact that the target of the investigation was the sitting president’s son. It takes even more stones to stand up to one of the most powerful and autonomous agencies in the government when they try to punish you for telling the truth. It is great to see things come full circle and see Shapely come out on the right side of things on the other end.

Tip of the day
Practicing empathy is another valuable strategy. Empathy helps you to understand and relate to the experiences of others, which can help you to respond with greater compassion and understanding (to better understand the difference between empathy and compassion you can read this article “What is Compassion”).
To cultivate empathy, a good place to start can be by engaging in active listening and a good place to try this out can be at home, with our family members. This actually means more than just hearing what people say, it means paying attention to their body language, tone of voice, and the content of their message.
When someone is speaking to you, try to really hear what they are saying and reflect on how they might be feeling.
