EDITORS’ NOTE: In the 3/24 edition of our newsletter, we did not catch the copy mistake in the 3rd article about the young lady who was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Louisville. We apologize for the error and thank the readers who let us know about the mistake.
Treasury balance sheet shows US is insolvent
Our take: $6.06 trillion in assets. $47.78 trillion in total liabilities, which does not include unfunded social security obligations, which were moved to an off-balance sheet statement by the Clinton administration to make the budget “balance” in the 1990’s. That number was at $88.4 trillion at the end of FY 2025. So, the US is around $130 trillion in debt when you add up all the debits and credits. Remember that when you are deciding to support or not support all these government programs people love to call “free.”
Make no mistake – that bill will come due at some point. Printing money leads to inflation 100% of the time. That’s why your groceries, gas, and other essentials cost so much. It’s taught in every Economics 101 class in the world. We better hope AI raises productivity exponentially, or we will not be able to dig ourselves out of this hole. The doomsday preppers are starting to look more reasonable every day.

Personal war breaks out over reclined seat on Delta flight
Our take: This is a topic that is as hotly debated as gun control, abortion, and religion: should you recline your seat on an airplane or not? One side argues that if the seat reclines, you should be able to recline. One side says you are a huge asshole if you recline and screw over the person behind you. I am firmly in the do not recline your seat on an airplane camp, but I would never start a fight about it like these women did. There is something about flying that suspends some people’s judgement – it’s pretty wild.

Arizona lawmaker sneaks $3 million handout to his employer into state budget
Our take: Arizona state senator Brian Fernandez snuck a $3 million appropriation to Yuma Regional Medical Center into the state budget after he failed to get enough votes for a bill that would have awarded $7 million to the hospital. Of course, Fernandez did not disclose the potential conflict of interest that exists when sending millions of dollars to the place where you personally work.
Seems legit. FYI – Fernandez did not get a raise or bonus after the award, but did receive thousands of dollars on political donations from the hospital for his campaign. Good lord.

Tip of the day – How to develop a growth mindset from Psychology Today
Acknowledge and embrace imperfection in self and others, as it is the spice that makes us individuals. We all have our flaws, peculiarities, and weirdness—our imperfections. Like the small black mole on Marilyn Monroe’s face, our imperfections make us unique. And self-love is a good thing.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“We are the producers of our own thinking. Thought is not something that happens to us, but something that we do to ourselves.”
