Remember that kid in Minnesota that ICE “kidnapped”? He and his family are being deported
Our take: A federal judge ended the asylum claims for a family of 4 from Ecuador on Tuesday. The family wound up in the national spotlight when the father ran from ICE when arriving home from picking up his 5-year-old son from school and leaving him in the car when he fled from immigration authorities. The mother also refused to open the door to take her son in, leaving him in the custody of federal agents to care for.
The media spun the story as ICE “kidnapping” a 5-year-old. Which was complete nonsense. I don’t take any pleasure in this family being deported. I hope their lives go well and good things happen for them. I want them to be healthy, happy, and prosperous. I want that for everyone. But we cannot let emotions get in the way of facts. This family is in a country illegally and must be held to account. Pay close attention to the news you consume. Almost all of it has a slant or an angle to it, and it is important for you to understand what that slant is.
Think what you want. Agree with what you want. I’m not trying to convince you to take a particular point of view or agree with a certain ideology. I simply ask that you consider all the facts and information when you are forming your beliefs, as I think you will make decisions that are best for you if you have the most information possible.

USPS is running out of money
Our take: Shocker. A government agency is bleeding cash and facing insolvency. This one is a bit tricky, as the Constitution specifically enumerates to Congress “the establishment of a post office and post roads.” We definitely need a way to move mail and other documents around the country. It seems like this would a be a perfect opportunity to hire a contractor from the private sector who would likely perform the duties with more efficiency and at a lower cost. One thing is for sure – we can’t keep doing what we have always done and expect it to magically start working.

Girl winds up in hospital after vegetarian roommate feeds her soy bacon
Our take: The real crime in this article is not the vegetarian roommate sneaking in soy bacon to convince her roommates it was “as good” as bacon, not knowing one of her roommates had a terrible soy allergy that sent the allergic roommate to the hospital in anaphylactic shock. The real crime is the soy bacon itself. Stop messing with perfect food companies. Anything labelled bacon that is not directly from pork bellies is unacceptable!

Tip of the day – How to find purpose in your life
Clarify what you really want (and what you really don’t)
Once you’ve established your priorities and non negotiables, it’s fairly simple to define your life goals. These are what you want out of your life in the areas of identity, career, finances, education, love, spirituality, family and more. They’ll bring you moments of joy and deeper meaning over the course of your life.
Then, take a moment to note what things you absolutely don’t want to happen. While you don’t want to spend too much time focusing on these fears, it’s important to know what they are so you can face your anxieties head-on, says Thomas.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Until you can see, and admit, that YOU are the problem… You will be unable to realise that YOU must be the solution.”
