Meet the next California “official” who will be arrested for breaking the law

Our take: We have been publishing articles about various public officials who erroneously think they have the power or authority to not follow the law or instruct others to do the same. Several have found out the hard way that they are wrong. The superintendent of LA public schools looks to be the next in line to learn the lesson.

The superintendent held a press conference yesterday announcing he had instructed officers enforced by the district to “intervene and interfere with any federal agency who may want to take action to these joyous times that we call graduation.” Yes—that is a direct quote.

The superintendent of one of the largest school districts in the country publicly announced he directed his staff members to break the law.

Pay attention to the hubris and entitlement this person thinks they have. Federal law supersedes all other law. No one can arbitrarily decide they don’t have to follow the law anymore. We look forward to this guy getting arrested in the next few weeks.

NYPD Commissioner warns protestors “Fuck around and find out”

Our take: The riots in LA have been an embarrassment to the LAPD. The NYPD is getting ahead of the issue by warning protestors about the consequences of their actions.

Commissioner Jessica Tisch said her staff would not allow any escalation in the Big Apple. Tisch stated that her team was prepared to swiftly deal with anyone who wanted to escalate the protests to looting, violence, or vandalism.

This is what the LAPD and LA mayor’s office don’t understand. Sometimes you can talk and reason with people.

Sometimes the only thing they understand is a punch in the face. We expect law enforcement to be willing to do the dirty work of dealing with the latter category. They have to step up when things get tough, not worry about how it looks on video.

Train employees sentenced for embezzling funds, building secret apartments in a train station

Our take: This is a wild story. Two supervisors who worked at Caltrain were sentenced for their conviction of embezzling public funds. That’s not super crazy. What they did with those funds is, though.

The two men used the funds to build secret apartments at Caltrain stations they were responsible for. They kept invoices below $3,000 so they could approve them without anyone senior to them needing to be involved so they could pay for the work through their position. The apartments were remodeled complete with kitchens, showers, and security cameras.

Yes, it is illegal to embezzle funds. That said, it is a pretty clever way for them to build their own place to live.

We wonder how they got the idea, how they snuck in contractors to do the work unnoticed, and how they decided to embezzle the funds to pull this off. It’s actually kind of impressive in a twisted way. We wonder who is living in the apartments now that these 2 gentlemen are in the clink.

Solve complex problems by clearly and effectively communicating with others. Utilize critical thinking skills to articulate your thoughts clearly, listen actively and engage in respectful and constructive dialogue. Challenge ideas through logical arguments and evidence rather than resorting to personal attacks. Respecting people with different views does not mean you agree with their opinions. Evaluate, formulate and communicate questions with clarity and precision.
