A Virginia city councilman was lit on fire in an attack at his office
Our take: A man walked into the office of Danville city councilman Lee Vogler today to confront the politician. The man doused Vogler in a flammable liquid. Vogler and the man proceeded outside, where the man lit Vogler on fire. Vogler was airlifted to a hospital. His condition is unknown.
The suspect, Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, was apprehended several blocks from where the incident occurred. Police said the attack stemmed from a personal matter not related to any political issue or affiliation. Good lord. Note to self – do not screw with Shotsie unless you want to be lit on fire.

Former VP Harris taps out of California gubernatorial race
Our take: Former VP Kamala Harris announced Wednesday that she would not seek the state’s top job in the 2026 election. Harris said “for now, my leadership – and public service – will not be in elected office. Harris has previously been elected to San Francisco DA, California Attorney General, and US Senator before ascending to the Vice Presidency under Joe Biden’s (ahem) leadership.
Congratulations California!!!

Cincinnati councilwoman says victims of violent assault by mob “begged for that beating”
Our take: A Facebook post from Cincinnati councilwoman Victoria Parks says the victims of a violent attack on 3 people by a mob of dozens of people last weekend “begged for the beatdown” being circulated across the country. The video shows multiple people punching and kicking a man while he is defenseless on the ground, as well a man sucker punching a woman in the face and knocking her unconscious.
Parks’ Facebook page also showed her following the Ike Turner Fan Club, liking vacation photos of Abrego Garcia, and commenting that Bill Cosby is “just misunderstood.” OK – we made those up, but anyone dumb enough to go on Facebook and say “the beating victims deserved it” is too stupid to know the difference anyway.

Tip of the day – improving communication
Listen, listen, and listen. People want to know that they are being heard. Really listen to what the other person is saying, instead of formulating your response. Ask for clarification to avoid misunderstandings. At that moment, the person speaking to you should be the most important person in your life. Another important point is to have one conversation at a time. This means that if you are speaking to someone on the phone, do not respond to an email or send a text at the same time. The other person will know that she doesn’t have your undivided attention.
