Holiday light dispute between neighbors ends in 6 figure lawsuit
Our take: Some people just cannot figure out how to get along. These neighbors started off with a dispute over a driveway and now find themselves mired in a 6-figure lawsuit. One set of neighbors extended their driveway, which crossed property lines by a few inches. Despite fixing this, it started a rift between the neighbors that grew bigger over the next 3 years.
The same neighbors that poured the driveway also like to decorate their house with lights for various holidays, including Halloween, Christmas, and Chinese New Year. Their adversarial neighbors do not like the lights.
The driveway neighbors also built a 10-foot fence, which also tweaked their adversarial neighbors. Instead of working through things like rational human beings, the aggrieved neighbors decided to file a civil lawsuit against their festive block mates, seeking $100,000 to compensate them for their “emotional distress.” Merry Christmas, everyone!

New York village threatens church for selling Christmas trees
Our take: A New York village on Long Island is threatening a Catholic church for selling Christmas trees, which has been an annual event for decades. The village says the church already had a fundraiser in the previous 90 days. The same rules don’t seem to apply to any for-profit ventures in the village. What the fuck? Merry Christmas, everyone!

The woman on the Easyjet flight was already dead when she boarded the plane
Our take: This appears to be a family that was trying to save on funeral costs by transporting their dead relative’s body by pulling a “Weekend at Bernie’s” or “Little Miss Sunshine” on Easyjet. Despite people claiming the woman died upon take off, witnesses state the woman only got in her seat by being lifted into place by 5 relatives, who also claimed it was OK because they were “doctors.” We get it. It’s expensive to ship a corpse. I’m pretty sure I was stuck next to this lady when I was on a recent flight and needed to use the boys' room. Merry Christmas, everyone!
