Trial for judge accused of helping an illegal alien evade ICE custody underway
Our take: In April 2025, Judge Hannah Dugan made some choices that she is now having to answer for. She heard a domestic battery case filed against a man who was also in the country illegally. Judge Dugan knew ICE agents were waiting for the hearing to end to take the man into custody to begin the deportation process. She sent the agents down the hall to the Chief Magistrate’s office. While they were there, she directed the man and his attorney to use a different exit from the courtroom so they could exit the courtroom and not encounter the ICE agents.
The man was ultimately captured by ICE, and Dugan has been charged with obstructing a federal proceeding and concealing the individual to prevent his arrest. After legal wrangling and attempts to get the charges dismissed, Judge Dugan now faces a jury trial for these actions, which could lead to both prison time and her removal from the bench.
This seems cut and dried from our perspective. It is clear Judge Dugan performed these actions, and her intent also seems clear. The real question to us is what consequences Judge Dugan should face based on her actions. It will be fascinating to see how this trial plays out.

Woman wonders if she’s the asshole for not supporting her husband’s career change to become a commercial airline pilot
Our take: The scenario is this. A married couple are both in their 30s. They have been married for a few years, have a 20-year mortgage, and have no children. They both work and earn roughly the same amount. They have pooled their resources since the start of their relationship.
The husband took up flying as a hobby and now wants to become a commercial airline pilot. The training would cost roughly 30% of their combined “life savings.” He would likely have to quit his current job to complete the training. The wife wants to know if she is the asshole for proposing they split their “life savings” 50/50 and each can do whatever they want with their half, including paying for flight school. This would leave her with her half to be “protected” in the event he failed.
The short answer is yes—she is the asshole. Marriage is a partnership, and showing a lack of faith and support in your partner pursuing something this viable (commercial airline pilots are in high demand—it’s not like he wants to start wildcatting for oil wells) clearly makes you the asshole.
If you disagree, ask yourself if the scenario was that the woman wanted to make a career change and become a nurse or doctor, and the man said, "I don’t think that’s a good use of our money, so I want to split our money in half, and I’ll keep my half so that if you fail, I’m protected." My bet is you would think about that scenario differently.
The good news for this guy is that chicks dig pilots, so he will have a lot of options once he makes it despite his wife being an unsupportive asshole.

ICE calls bullshit on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s claim that her son was pulled over by ICE
Our take: Congresswoman Ilhan Oman claimed last week that her son was stopped and pressed for proof of citizenship by ICE last Saturday at a Minnesota Target. ICE Director Todd Lyons said Tuesday that ICE has no record of this interaction, and pressed Congresswoman Omar for some proof to back up her claims.
Your move, Congresswoman. We are waiting for the proof to validate your accusations. Target has cameras everywhere. It should not be hard to produce.

Tip of the day: How to win friends and influence people
Treat People with Respect and Kindness
Respect and kindness are the foundation of effective communication in any language. When interacting with colleagues, clients, or managers, remember to use people’s names—it’s a small gesture that shows you value them.
Even when you disagree, maintaining a respectful tone is essential. Avoid unnecessary criticism or complaints; instead, focus on being constructive. This helps build trust and positive relationships at work.
Example:
Instead of saying, “That idea won’t work,” try, “I see where you’re coming from, but how about we try this approach?”
