Jon Stewart mocks CNN for promoting Tapper's book on Biden while covering Biden's cancer news

Our take: Jon Stewart became a household name when he was the face of The Daily Show for over a decade. During that time, he came across as a partisan left supporter, rarely criticizing the Democrats.

He retired from The Daily Show several years ago and has since made a return as a sometimes host of the show he made famous. Since returning, he has shown more willingness to call balls and strikes instead of picking sides.

Case in point is his mocking of CNN while they push the new book authored by longtime CNN anchor Jake Tapper while simultaneously somberly covering Biden’s cancer diagnosis.

Tapper and co-author Alex Thompson wrote a book detailing the measures taken by Biden and his inner circle to conceal his cognitive decline as his presidency dragged on. Anyone with 2 eyes and a brain in their head could see Biden’s cheese was sliding off his cracker as the days crawled by.

Those in legacy media not only refused to press the White House on the issue, they made excuses and shouted down anyone who dared to publicly ask the questions they should have asked. But now they want to hail this book as some kind of revelation.

Stewart is among the hundreds of millions of Americans who are not buying it. They are mercilessly and correctly calling bullshit on Tapper and CNN. The upside to this, aside from seeing the smug, holier than thou media have to eat some serious shit, is that the Democrats who helped perpetrate this fraud on American citizens are now being called out as well. The fallout remains to be seen, but at least there is some chance they could be held accountable for the gaslighting and illegal concealment of the mental capability of the President of the United States.

Justice Department looks to cancel settlements with police departments over alleged civil rights violations

Our take: In 2015, Michael Brown was killed by police in Ferguson, MO. Despite clear evidence that Brown was correctly stopped by the police because they were responding to a robbery he had just committed and that Brown attacked the police officer who shot and killed Brown as Brown rushed him, protests over Brown’s killing led to violent riots not only in Ferguson but around the country. This incident led to a string of protests around what some considered questionable police killings, including Breonna Taylor in Louisville and George Floyd in Minneapolis.

After these uprisings, the Justice Department of President Biden launched investigations into police practices in many cities, Louisville and Minneapolis included. To bring closure to these investigations, the departments entered into consent decrees with the DOJ, essentially agreeing to oversight and revisions to their standard practices, largely around alleged racial discrimination and police brutality.

The Trump DOJ announced this week that it was retracting the findings and ending the agreements with these cities. “It’s our view at the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division under the Trump administration that federal micromanagement of local police should be a rare exception and not the norm,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, the new leader of the division, told reporters.

We did a podcast episode on this subject several months ago. Empirical evidence shows that the narrative that police are more likely to use deadly force on people of color is not supported by evidence, but that police do stop people of color more frequently and are more aggressive in using non-lethal force when they do.

There is a sweet spot somewhere in the middle here. The evidence shows police do act more aggressively towards people of color, but they do not use deadly force more frequently. It would be good to root out the discrimination in a way that is not draconian.

Our take: During their campaign against each other, Donald Trump regularly accused Joe Biden of not being cognitively well enough to be elected president again. Almost everyone outside of Trump supporters loudly disagreed with Trump, calling him a liar and a charlatan who would do or say anything to get elected.

The new book just published showing that Biden and his handlers hid his cognitive decline from the world for several years is not good news for these people. Now that the cows are out of the barn, it was only a matter of time before Trump used this new information to not only take a victory lap but also to call into question policies that were instituted in the latter part of his presidency.

Anything signed into law by Biden is now open for question. Pardons, executive orders, and even laws that the President signed can be questioned because Biden and Democratic leaders lied about the President and his mental capacity. If you think this is anywhere close to over, you are not paying attention. Democrats have only themselves to blame. Maybe they should try telling the truth from now on.

Tip of the Day

Failure is inevitable in business and in life. The key to developing grit is learning to see failure not as a sign of inadequacy but as a valuable learning experience. When you encounter a setback, rather than giving up, analyze what went wrong and consider what you can do differently next time. This ability to bounce back from failure is what psychologists call “resilience”—another core component of grit.
