The government employee X account says Governor Walz ignored fraud warnings and retaliated against whistleblowers who provided evidence of fraud
Our take: More than 70 people have already been charged in a $300 million scheme to steal money meant to feed hungry kids, with many of those charged already convicted and sentenced. New fraud cases related to stealing money meant to provide housing and healthcare for underprivileged families are also in process. People are innocent until proven guilty, and we will wait to see what comes of these new allegations—many related to Somali nationals who now live in the US.
More than 400 government workers took to X to let others know they tried to call out the alleged fraud to Governor Tim Walz. These employees say not only did Walz ignore the warnings but also retaliated against the whistleblowers in an effort to silence them.
Somalia is well known around the world as a corrupt culture, rife with fraud, nepotism, and theft. When discussing Somalia, most people immediately recall the decades-long prevalence of piracy in the country. Outside of Minnesota, most people know Walz as the failed VP candidate of Kamala Harris.
Walz was caught in multiple lies during the campaign, including his rank in the National Guard when he retired, his claims of serving in war when he was nowhere near the frontlines, the circumstances around his DUI conviction in Nebraska as a young man, his role as a football coach, and his attendance at the demonstrations in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
Unfortunately for all involved or accused, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Said differently, once people know you are a cheat and a liar, they know you will cheat and lie. The presumption of innocence will have a very short runway on these issues.

A single woman rocks the boat when she questions splitting the vacation rental by family instead of by bedroom
Our take: A woman shares a story about a family vacation and the cost splitting of the rental. There are 4 families involved: the parents, the single woman, and her two sisters, each of whom has children of her own, all of whom are over the age of 18. They rented a 6-bedroom vacation home. Each adult/their spouse would get their own bedroom, with the 2 remaining bedrooms being used by the 2 groups of offspring—one for each family's kids. The single woman was surprised when she received a bill for ¼ of the rental cost. She argued the bill should have been split 6 ways, with each family paying for the number of bedrooms they were occupying.
We have had this exact argument before, but in the opposite direction. When our kids were young (I think we had 2 boys at that point, as the third had not been born yet, with both our sons under 5 years of age), we rented a beach house with my three sisters and their spouses/boyfriends. Our boys slept in our room for the trip.
One of my sisters thought the bill should have been split by person, not by bedroom. We did not agree since we largely handled meals on our own outside of dinner, which was typically a potluck or “everyone take $20 to the store and buy something.”
I’m not sure how this woman’s situation should have been resolved, but we are firmly on her side that dividing by 4 is not the solution. Dividing by bedroom and each family paying for their bedroom(s) seems closer to fair. What do you think?

Man accused of spitting on random white women beaten on video by two other men, “tired of that shit”
Our take: For some reason, there are people upset that a man who has been accused of spitting on random white women has been held accountable by other men in his community. A video shows Anthon Caines (45) in a fetal position while being hit and kicked by two other men telling Caines they were tired of him making other men look bad and that Caines needed to leave women alone.
Caines protested, saying he had been thrown in jail for his transgressions. One of the men says, “Fuck jail, we are worse than jail.” You may have a problem with this, but we don’t. We think the world is a better place when men stick up for women. Sometimes things need to be expressed in a way that men are uniquely qualified to do.

Tip of the day for thinking critically
Consider more than one point of view. Everyone has their own opinions and motivations – even highly intelligent people making reasonable-sounding arguments have personal opinions and biases that shape their thinking. So, when someone presents you with information, consider whether there are other sides to the story.
