A Florida woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison after hitting a man with a car and then hiding it in the woods
Our take: A Florida woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison for hitting a man on a scooter as she drove, then fleeing the scene and hiding her car in the woods. The man died due to an “internal decapitation.”
40-year-old Sarah Rachel Nowlin hit 34-year-old Calvin Garlick with her Prius. Garlick was found in a ditch by a neighbor who lived on the road. While investigating the incident, police were called by another neighbor who reported a “suspicious car” in a wooded lot behind their home.
The car was a Prius, which police knew was the make and model they were looking for based on shrapnel from the Prius left at the scene of the accident. No word on if the car had a big pair of glasses, a fake nose, and a mustache on the hood to complete the disguise while trying to hide it from the cops.

Man sentenced to 18 years for shoving girlfriend in front of subway train
Our take: Christian Valdez, 36, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder on June 13th in connection with a 2024 incident during which Valdez pushed his 29-year-old girlfriend in front of an oncoming subway train after an argument. The girlfriend was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for rib fractures and a blood clot in her lung and had both her legs amputated. Valdez was on parole for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
OJ Simpson said Valdez was being railroaded (see what we did there) and vowed to search every golf course in America to find “the real killer.”

Our take: A 54-year-old woman from Alabama was arrested after she allegedly left a dead man rotting in the bedroom of her apartment for up to 2 weeks without notifying authorities. Shockingly, the woman’s husband died in the same apartment. Police believe both men may have died from a drug overdose. Bill Clinton has made inquiries about Hillary spending some time with the woman at her apartment when she is paroled for these incidents.

Tip of the day – improving communication
Who you are talking to matters. It is okay to use acronyms and informal language when you are communicating with a buddy, but if you are emailing or texting your boss, "Hey," "TTYL," or any informal language has no place in your message. You cannot assume that the other person knows what the acronym means. Some acronyms have different meanings to different people. Do you want to be misunderstood? Effective communicators target their message based on who they are speaking to, so try to keep the other person in mind when you are trying to get your message across.
