The author shares a relatable story about buying 25-cent Big Macs to stretch his food dollar

Our take:  This is a story all of us can relate to from when we were young and poor. A local McDonald’s had a promotion on Tuesdays for a 25 cent Big Mac. This guy figured he could buy 25 Big Mac’s, freeze them, and eat for cheap for a month. The McDonald’s had a limit of 5 Big Mac’s per order. He talked them into selling him all 25 Big Mac’s in one order so he did not jam up their drive thru by circling around 4 more times.

Good stuff! We had friends who went to an all-you-can-eat fish and chip joint. They gorged for over an hour, then pulled out sleeping bags and attempted to take a nap so they could wake up and eat some more. The fish and chip joint saw it differently and showed them the door. If you have never broken the rules or pushed social norms to feed yourself out of necessity, I don’t think we can be friends. Those stories from lean times make us appreciate how good we have things now.

Woman on a date is surprised when her date’s wife shows up for hors d’oeuvres

Our take: A woman met a man on a dating app and went on several dates with him. Imagine her surprise when her date’s wife showed up when they were eating appetizers and started screaming at her husband in the middle of the restaurant. Oh yeah – this guy’s profile said he was looking for a life partner and someone to marry. It looks like he left out the word “else” before the word “marry”.

Yikes. I think I would get my dinner to go after this.

Democrat candidate refuses to answer questions about her “defund the police” tweets from 2020

Our take: A Democratic candidate running for the House of Representatives would not answer questions about tweets she wrote in 2020 saying the Nashville police should be dissolved and cheering on a tweet from the teachers union stating the police should be defunded as a requirement for teachers to go back to classrooms after the ridiculous Covid shutdowns.

When asked about the tweets and if her position had changed, the candidate said she “would not engage in cable news talking points.” What? Public safety and your willingness to sacrifice it in the name of political gain is absolutely a topic voters have a right to know your position on.

As if that was not enough, this serial panderer went on a podcast and claimed she hated Nashville, the largest city in the district she wants to represent.

“I hate the city, I hate the bachelorettes, I hate the pedal taverns, I hate country music, and I hate all the things that make Nashville apparently an “it” city to the rest of the country. Good lord. This woman seems like a lot of fun and smart too! Good luck if you elect this moron, Nashville!

Tip of the day for thinking critically

Always vet new information with a cautious eye, whether it’s an article someone has shared online or data related to your job; always verify the information you're presented with. Good questions to ask here include, "Is this information complete and up to date?” “What evidence is being presented to support the argument?” and “Whose voice is missing here?”
