California DOE declines agreement with US Department of education to prevent men from competing in women’s sports
Our take: We have steadfastly been on the side of women as it relates to men participating in women’s sports. The same cannot be said for the officials who run California’s athletics in their school system. The CDE rejected a proposed resolution agreement with the US Department of Education whereby the CDE would “restore all individual records, titles, and awards misappropriated by male athletes competing in female competitions.”
This is not a difficult distinction to make. Before puberty, boys and girls can largely compete against each other without any safety or fairness issues. Post-puberty, it is not possible for male and female athletes to compete in competitive sports without creating safety and fairness issues. It’s obvious and does not require any studies or empirical evidence. We are glad the Trump Administration is tackling this issue to bring fairness and safety to women’s sports.

Veteran sports journalist hammers WNBA Commissioner about not supporting Caitlin Clark
Our take: We are not now, nor have we ever been, fans of the WNBA. It is a boring, uncompelling product that is not fun to watch. With that said, Caitlin Clark is a compelling athlete to watch. It has nothing to do with race but everything to do with skill, flair, and charisma on the court. If you watched the NBA in the 1980s with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Julius Erving, you can understand her appeal.
The WNBA has lost tens of millions of dollars every single year for its entire quarter-century existence. Since Clark joined the league last year, her team, the Indiana Fever, has been the largest draw in the WNBA by a considerable amount. You would think the commissioner of the struggling league would put her full support behind the rising star and leverage her popularity to increase the profile of the league.
Unfortunately, Commissioner Cathy Engelbert seems to be immune to common or business sense. Rather than embrace Clark and protect her from the obvious bullying and physical abuse she has been subject to, Engelbert continues to attempt to deny the obvious. Clark is the meal ticket to prosperity if Engelbert and the rest of the league get behind her and leverage her popularity to help the league. It is absurd that anyone needs to explain this to the WNBA leadership.

FBI issues new warning about phone scam targeting Americans
Our take: This article discusses the phone scam that we have all heard about, but some people continue to fall for. A strange number appears on your phone. For some unknown reason, you answer it. The caller tells you about some emergency that you need to deal with immediately. Your relative has been arrested or in a car accident. You owe back taxes, and the FBI or IRS is on its way to arrest you. You cannot call anyone for help; you must send money to the caller immediately to mitigate the circumstances. If you don’t, you will go to jail or lose all your money, or your loved one will be locked away for years.
These are scams. They are all scams. No legitimate business or government agency will ever call you and require you to send them money or disclose your personal information to them without discussing it with someone else. Hang up and call a friend or relative who you know and trust. They will tell you what I am telling you here. This is a scam. They are trying to steal your money. Don’t fall for it.
