The judge uses her position to help her friends avoid tickets and bully everyone she disagrees with

Our take: A judge in New York was formally censured for using her position to help friends and acquaintances, including erasing tickets and vacating a judgment for people she knew. I have been involved in an insane probate dispute for the past 5 years, and have seen this firsthand. If you think you can count on a judge or a court to uphold the law and make impartial decisions based on facts and law, you are incorrect. Judges have absolute power within their courtrooms, and there are most certainly judges like this who think they can do whatever they want with impunity.

It’s good that this woman was censured, but how many people went through her court and got treated unfairly because she allowed her personal opinions and feelings cloud the issues. It’s a big problem in the application of laws, which is part of the bedrock our society is built on. We need a better way to call these issues out when they happen and more accountability for judges who abuse their positions and allow personal feelings to cloud their decisions. Ask President Trump if he agrees.

Democrats continue to push to abolish ICE

Our take: Democrats continue to push to abolish ICE, the agency responsible for capturing and deporting those in the country illegally. This begs the question: What is their plan to continue to enforce our laws and protect our citizens if you want to get rid of the people doing it now? Or maybe they want to keep everyone that’s here illegally so they can stack the house with Democrats and push their agenda.

People in the country illegally cannot vote in elections, but they are counted in the census that happens every ten years and determines the distribution of congressional seats, where the laws of our country are actually made.

The article provides an opinion on why we are seeing people interfere with law enforcement operations

Our take: This article is not partisan. It is written by a historian who is expressing his opinion on why we are seeing what we are seeing in the streets, and why it should be concerning to everyone. It’s worth your time to read it.

Tip of the day – How to think critically

Tip of the day – How to think critically.

Reshape Your Character.

Choose one intellectual trait---intellectual perseverance, autonomy, empathy, courage, humility, etc.--- to strive for each month, focusing on how you can develop that trait in yourself. For example, concentrating on intellectual humility, begin to notice when you admit you are wrong. Notice when you refuse to admit you are wrong, even in the face of glaring evidence that you are, in fact, wrong. Notice when you become defensive when another person tries to point out a deficiency in your work or your thinking. Notice when your intellectual arrogance keeps you from learning, for example, when you say to yourself, “I already know everything I need to know about this subject.” Or, “I know as much as he does. Who does he think he is, forcing his opinions on me?” By owning your “ignorance,” you can begin to deal with it.
