Judge charged with helping illegal alien escape argues she has legal immunity

Our take: The Wisconsin judge accused of helping an illegal immigrant escape capture by federal immigration officials by first preventing the federal officials from waiting outside the courtroom to arrest him and then herding the immigrant and his attorney out a passageway reserved for jurors has filed a motion claiming she enjoys absolute immunity for all acts since they happened in her “official capacity” as a judge. The motion asks the court to dismiss the case on these grounds.

We are not attorneys, we have never gone to law school, and we didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. With that said, it will be a terrible look for the legal system and Democrats as well (the accused judge is a lifelong Democrat).

Anyone with any common sense can see what happened here. The judge got pissed because she disagreed with the federal officials’ approach, and she intentionally misled them while she helped the criminal and his attorney make a run for it. This may keep the judge out of legal trouble, but it will have a huge negative impact on people’s perception of the legal system if she is allowed to walk away with no consequences.

Scumbag investor sues United Health Care for losing money because they lied about future plans

Our take: Last December, United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down in cold blood by Luigi Mangione while Thompson was walking to a meeting in the early morning hours. While Thompson and United Health Care may very well have done despicable things to people in the name of making profits, being shot in the back while walking down the street is not acceptable in any rational world.

Despite this obvious conclusion, Mangione has received a surprising amount of support from the public. It is doubtful that anyone saw this coming, especially those inside United Health Care. As they dealt with the shocking events, they reviewed and reconfirmed their earnings projections.

One douchebag investor is now filing suit against the company, claiming the company failed to tell investors how it planned to adjust its strategy in the wake of Thompson's killing to account for the public backlash and government scrutiny. By Jan. 16, UnitedHealth Group announced that it would reaffirm December's projections, which the lawsuit alleges were false and misleading because the company was no longer willing to "use the aggressive, anti-consumer tactics."

Translation: “United knew they could no longer fuck over customers after their business practices were investigated by Congress and were brought to the public’s attention after the murder of Thompson, and I cost me money, so I am suing them.”

Yikes. This is a lawsuit where even if you win, you have already lost by filing the suit. The investor looks like a money-grubbing scumbag, but only because he is. We can only hope the investor filing suit gets an almost impossible-to-cure case of jock itch.

Some Starbucks employees “strike” for having to wear black shirts to work

Our take: Starbucks employees are “striking” in protest because the company is making them wear black t-shirts to work. Seriously.

Talk about first world problems. We don’t drink coffee, but we only have one thing to say. Shut up and make the lattes faster so the line is not half an hour long.
