Two female teachers at one Oklahoma school were fired over claims they attacked students

Our take: In a 2-month span, 2 female teachers were accused of attacking students at an elementary school in Oklahoma. One was accused of yanking a 10-year-old out of his seat and striking him in the face. The other was accused of putting a 5-year-old in a chokehold and dragging him down a hallway. Both women have court dates in May.

Holy cow – I guess you don’t fuck around in this school district, huh? These ladies mean business, and they will let you know ASAP if you are not meeting expectations. No word on what set either woman off, but if I were a kid there, I’d work really hard to color inside the lines on every project I was assigned.

JD Vance’s “anti-fraud task force” finds over $6 billion in suspected fraudulent government contracts

Our take: We like JD Vance. I think he is smart, a hard worker, and, for the most part, wants good things for people. That said, $6 billion is literally a bucket full of water from the ocean of fraud and waste that exists in the bloated federal budget and all the completely unnecessary programs it funds.

This better be the first of thousands of such announcements if we are going to tackle the $130 trillion debt the country is facing. That’s $40 trillion on balance sheet debt that we hear discussed regularly, plus the $90 trillion in unfunded social security obligations that move off balance sheet to an SPE when then President Clinton magically “balanced” the budget back in the 1990’s. Simply using accounting tricks to hide debt does not retire debt. We are hopeful this is a sign of the government.

High prices cost PepsiCo billions in sales

Our take: It turns out that charging exorbitant prices for food that is terrible for you eventually catches up to your bottom line. PepsiCo owns both Pepsi and Frito Lay. Frito Lay is the largest potato chip company in the US. As such, they felt like they had pricing power and kept raising prices despite significant pushback from customers like Walmart. Eventually Walmart cut shelf space for Frito-Lay products and expanded their offerings on cheaper private-label salty snacks.

PepsiCo’s 13-year run of increasing sales came to a screeching halt, and they are now trying to cut prices to entice customers to buy their unhealthy products. They are facing many headwinds, including customers who are more educated and health-conscious about food choices; high gas prices that impact bottom-line profits; and customers now trained to buy cheaper but similar private-label products. I say good riddance. Go sell your sugar water and trans fat snacks somewhere else.

Tip of the day – How to develop a growth mindset from Psychology Today

Take risks in the company of others. Try not to take yourself too seriously. Be willing to make mistakes in front of others, because if you're growing, this is bound to happen. And making mistakes in front of others will usually get easier with practice.
